just purchased a intel mac and bought a copy of windows vista.
Has anybody tried this combination yet. With an intel mac you can run windows vista natively. I have done this and installed toolkit but having problems finding the com port.
Im just going through my checks now, but i was wondering if anybody else has tried and succeeded with this?
    cheers Manni.

I assume by "run natively" you mean dual booting using Boot Camp?

I also assume you have a USB-RS232 converter to provide your serial port (since to my knowledge none of the macs have RS232 serial ports). What type of USB-RS232 adapter are you using?

I can't speak for BootCamp, but I run XP SP2 on a macbook under VMWare Fusion, using one of the Dontronics USB-RS232 adapters, and have had no problems with Toolkit or PICED.

thanks nickD for your response, I had not crimped my cat5 cable correctly and thus was not working. But all is fine now.

intel mac running Vista with bootcamp
pc interface to a with a converterrs 232 to rj 45 through cat 5 cable then converted back to rs232 and then through a prolific rs232 to usb converter. converter adapters from jaycar.

    works a treat.!!!!
