    Hi Guys,

I was installing my first matrix switcher the other day and found that i could not get any project to transfer if the usb lead was either extended with an additional lead (by 2 mtrs) or if I used a longer lead.

Is there any work around for this? It's just that the switcher is in a rack, so it would be easier to sit the laptop on a desk nearby.

    Cheers,

    Hi Chris,

The Current build of Matrix Switchers has additional EMC protection on the USB port that does limit the USB cable to about 1M (sometimes 2 with a better quality cable). The next revision has relaxed the EMC protection on the USB port and they should work with longer cables. Until the next release we can only recommend that the USB cable be limited to 1M. :(

    Cheers

    Thanks RDS,

Will this be a fix/upgrade to the existing switchers or only later ones from the factory?

    Cheers,

    Chris.

This will be only for the new second generation matrix switchers currently in development. (No we can't say what is in them or when they are due to be released).

    Get Active

I have been using a 5 metre Active USB extension cable, and it seems to work OK.
