    I like the simple way in which the rules can be applied.

    The downside to this is that the there must be current sensors on the light switch to detect that it was turned "On" and the light shelf must have enough intelligence to detect if it is open or closed and be able to broadcast that. This would mean that everything would need to be micro-based = powered

    On the Big Brother side of this it means everything you do in your home is traceable? :mad:

    Microsoft attempt #2... the last one was in about 2002 and it faded away into obscurity.

    Exactly! I'm not sure why things like that are happening. I guess they are getting so lax about it.

    They have a bunch of ideas, but don't understand the domain.

    Like many other attempts at 1/2 decent automation systems from the US, too many academic ideas from geeks, not enough listening to sparkies and home owners about what they'd actually like.

    Yes, that sounds arrogant. But its true.
