I feel like I'm going backwards with this question...

Do the non multi-sensors, the internal sensors etc make use of the "Motion in Darkness" feature?

I've just never touched this, always had the check-box ticked for use the same as Motion in Light. Expecting that it was only for multi-sensors with lux level.

Regular motion sensors have this too. If you have a poke around in the Toolkit UI you'll see that you can make the "Motion in Darkness" feature work quite independently of "Motion in Light".

The unit does have a light level sensor internally, but it is only used to make distinctions between the light/dark and sunset states.

    Great, thanks for the reply.

Do people use this feature? Does it work well?

I've always used a schedule to disable the sensor from the astronomical clock. Where I can use basic function over logic/schedule is ideal though.

In a typical/default configuration, the unit is always using both the Motion in Light and Motion in Dark features of the unit. The light level is below the level set by the adjustment screw on the unit, so any movement detected under those conditions will turn on the group address and start the timer. If the light level is now above the threshold any subsequent detection of movement will re-set the timer to the full value, but not issue any commands to turn the light on again, since it's already on.

This configuration has the advantage that the sensor will not turn the lights on if the ambient level is high.

By un-checking the "Use same response settings..." checkbox you can then configure the unit to do additional functions, such as turn on different group addresses based on the light level.

Is there something specific you're looking to achieve?

Just to turn on a light only at night time. Sounds perfect if I've understood correctly.

The out-of-the-box configuration will do exactly what you want. You just need to adjust the light level threshold using the adjustment screw on the unit.
