    Hello,

While technically it is possible it is well and truelly not worth the effort.. Spend $200 and get a L5501RBCP blind control relay..

    Cheers..

It is possible. You will need to use at least 3 channels, plus some logic, and if you get it wrong you will destroy your motor very quickly.

My recommendation is the same as Roosta's... Use the right tool for the job... the L5501RBCP shutter relay was designed specifically to avoid the problems above. It will probably save you more than it cost in the time it saves you messing around getting the above to work properly (assuming your time is worth something).

If you search the forums there may be other threads showing how to do it using a normal relay, but I'm not going to advise how it's done because I don't think it's a good idea :)

As others have advised above, it is best to use the C-Bus L5501RBCP blind control relay to directly control up/down or open/close blind motors.

If you have some spare SPDT C-Bus changeover relays to physically implement interlocking with the relays so that both up/down motors can never under any circumstance be simultaneously powered, and can write some logic to implement the direction change delay and limit time outs on a suitable logic engine supporting C-Bus device, then this can also be a good solution if done correctly. This is however much more trouble than just using a L5501RBCP, and is the type of solution that was more appropriate before the L5501RBCP was available.

If you only have SPST C-Bus relays (non-changeover), then it is not a good idea to use them for up/down motor control, because you cannot implement physical interlocking. If you rely on software interlocking to ensure that the up/down motors are never simultaneously powered, you cannot be sure that this interlocking will always be enforced.

So, if you have only STST C-Bus relays channels available, as is the case on your 12 channnel C-Bus relay, then you should buy the C-Bus L5501RBCP and use it instead to directly control up/down motors on blinds.
