I am trying to control a number of devices by infrared, in two locations. One is nice and close to the NIRT plate and the other is a about 10 meters away. Because devices are the same at both locations I need to use the separate channels for discrete control. ie.
channel 1 - TV 1 at NIRT and DVD 1 remote
channel 2 - TV 2 at NIRT and DVD 2 remote
I have a suspicion that its not as easy as putting in a 2 x 3.5mm to 1 x 3.5mm adaptor and extending one output.
Is there an easy circuit to build or do I have to buy a Zantech or similar connecting block?

    Thanks guys

It is OK to have different length emitters connected to the same port. Understand that the cable is indirectly connected to C-Bus and as such the length of the cable must be considered as part of the total network length. You can have 2 emitter heads connected to each IR emitter port.

Make sure that this cable is adequately isolated from metal parts so that the chance of a short is minimised. It won't stop C-Bus from working but it might stop the unit.

I would plug a 3.5mm mono splitter directly into the NIRT and then run your 10m extension out to the other device. I would use CAT5 data cable for your extension, rather than a generic figure 8 cable. Whilst both will probably work, the CAT5 performance over the long run will be better and the signal will arrive at the other end with less distortion.
