New C-Touch

When will the new C-Touch be available to buy???

I need to rough-in wiring for one, what should I be runing to it???

Is there a wall box available yet to mount into brick wall???

I assume you are talking about the colour C-Touch.

We can't comment on product release dates. The wall box is not available yet.

The colour C-Touch has two connections to it :
- C-Bus
- Power from a plug pack which is supplied with the colour C-Touch. The wires for this are roughly 4m long.

 

There is also various other plugs on the unit (eg. LAN, Audio, IR etc..) but I don't want to clarrify any further as I'm not sure what is official or not

I have a provisional wiring word doc if you want it. Just lays out wiring and type for pre-wire for the colour screen.

As a minimum run the following cables.
1 x C-Bus Pink
1 x Figure 8 (make this one a decent guage and quality- power supply)
2 x Cat5/6 blue.
1 x RG59 (75ohm coax - composite video)

If you want to cover all bases for the future you could add.
1-2 x shielded audio cables
second RG 59 coax.

Make sure you start to play with Homegate so you will be up to speed when it comes to program the thing.....

 

The power doesnt seem right (amongst other things), let me check with the Design Team on the project and I'll try and post more definite information shortly.

 

In the meantime.. install a good quality draw wire

 

Hmmm... no point running 2 x Cat 5/6 blue as there is only one LAN port, however there are 2 C-Bus ports so you might want 2 x C-Bus Pink cables to wire the unit in series on the bus.

Actually there is 2 lan ports, but one is behind the face of the unit for programming and not accessable via the installation cabling anyway.

 

Please note that you should not use any power wiring for the colour C-Touch other than the cable that forms part of the plug pack.

The use of other wiring may damage the colour C-Touch or cause unreliable operation.

The best advice is to install your C-Bus cable and a draw wire. When you receive your colour C-Touch, draw the power wire through.

 

Colour Touch Screen

I am trying to pre-plan for two colour touch screens both in a brick walls.

If I run a conduit to the location and a gap 224 x 167 x 68 (W X H X D). will that be safe?

What I am trying to find out is, will there be a wall box (where the touch screen will be mounted, like the current mono touchscreen) or is it just one unit (which does not require a wall box)?

I am also thinking of putting the touch screen power supply in the celing and running the power cable in the same conduit as the cat5, will that be right?

 

There will be a wallbox, but the size has not been finalised.

It should be fine to run the DC power cable down the same conduit as the C-Bus cable.

 

Would you recommend I increase the gap in the wall or leave it as gap 224 x 167 x 68 (W X H X D)?

 

When i get my hands on one i'll mount it in my room... what ?! You think i'm joking ?!

 

Does it come with a normal power supply which would have a + and -, in which case you can just cut the connector and just draw the cable and then join the cable again?

Secondly how long will the power supply cable be, can it be easily extended?
