    Please help.

I have recently had to upgrade my PC to a new one. I selected one with a serial port to allow me to use my existing RS 232 and not have to upgrade to a USB version.

I have had to restart the entire project as the data from the old computer was not able to be saved.

Having reset up the lables for my DLT plates including the three scenes as previous, I can not transfer the new information back to the DLT plates.

The network has detected them. They are showing up and I can transfer them into the new data base. I can edit but not transfer the new info back.

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

I assume that this means you had some kind of hardware failure on your old PC which prevented you from retrieving your data, and that you did not have any backups, correct?

You're going to need to provide more info before people are going to be able to help you much further. Describe the exact sequence of events you're going through to transfer the data from your database to the network as well as any error messages or warnings you are seeing. State which buttons you're pressing, what happens when you click, etc.

I take it that you can successfully scan your C-Bus network using Toolkit? It seems that you have successfully transferred all programming from your network to your database, correct? Can you transfer the programming from the database to the network successfully for other unit types?

Is it possible that you have forgotten to scan your network after opening Toolkit but prior to doing the database -> network transfer?

Hi and thanks for the reply Newman,

I have opened the network correctly and am able to see each item on it, including voltage.
I can transfer the item into the database, edit, but when pressing the "transfer to network" the error message of "unit does not exist on network, please scan" appears.

The item appears in the top data window as "exists on network... YES"

I also can not direct "edit" the item on the "units on network" widow either.

Have tried re scanning and even logging off and re boot etc.

I know I am just a novice but did not have the same problems with old lap top, even though following the same procedure.

    Any suggestions?

Can you elaborate on this statement further? What happens when you double-click a unit on the network? Does the UI for that unit open? If it opens, are the OK and Apply buttons clickable? If they are clickable, what does the Save dialogue let you / not let you select?

This is a most unusual problem. I can't help but wonder if it's a Windows permissions thing with Vista/W7...

I think that may be the answer. When I click on the Edit units on network icon, the error R-3063 appears. A bit of reaserch indicates to contact administrator re this problem.
I am currently runnig XP proff. I am off the the PC shop where I purchased the lap top and ask for details, as they installed this for me. I have tried logging in as the admin, but get the same error.

Just to complicate things, some of the changes that I have edited it the data base HAVE made it back to the DLT plates, but not all. It times out before upload with the above error message.

I am guessing that the full text of Error 3063 is 'Transfer of programming information failed'. This error can be produced by any number of things, including incompatibilities between the units in the network and the database, or problems with the serial port or its drivers. It's probably best to contact Technical Support who can walk you through a troubleshooting process.
