New to C-BUS Diagnosing Fan on Voltage Free Relay Device Not Working

    Firstly would like to express my gratitude for this forum, it has been extremely useful in getting started understanding the C-BUS system we inherited on purchasing a house.

    I have an issue with an extractor fan on the network no longer turning on or off.

    I am not sure how old the system is but I would guess about 5-6 years.

    I have an issue with a bathroom extractor fan which is connected to a standard plug point operated by C-BUS no longer working. It is wired to a voltage free relay output unit and operated by a Saturn EDLT Wall Switch input unit.

    Pressing the button on the input unit operates the light indicator on the input unit and also correctly switches the appropriate channel on the 12 channel 10A relay with power supply.

    Both the Unit and C-BUS indicator lights are lit on the output unit and all other channels are operating correctly.

    These are the things I have done so far to try and diagnose the issue:

    Plugged the fan into another power point that I know works - fan operates correctly so fan not faulty.

    Accessed the network using the Toolkit and checked the network voltages and confirmed that the switch operation via the input unit and manually triggering the channel on the output unit is showing in the application logs.

    Ran diagnostics in Toolkit and all reported OK.

    I am thinking it might just be a loose wire or connection that is the issue given that everything else appears to be working correctly?

    Not being an electrician I am somewhat hesitant to start checking or messing with wires on the C-BUS board before checking this is the logical next step. See attached photo of the C-BUS hardware in the cabinet. There are two screws holding the panel in place and what appear to be two handles to pull the board out.

    Does the power need to be completely off before attempting this?

    Are there other things I should check or be aware of if attempting to check the wired connections to the output unit?

    I have a multimeter I can use but not sure what I should be now checking given the above information.

    Any thoughts or help would be greatly appreciated, I am in Australia. Thanks

    Welcome to the forum

    You need to engage an electrician to tackle the testing, preferably one who is familiar with C-Bus. It is both dangerous and illegal for you to undertake such testing yourself. Updating your location to a city, rather than 'Australia' would be helpful too.
    There are plenty of us on here who are qualified and licensed that can assist. Where (more precisely) are you located?

    I am based on the Central Coast NSW if there is anybody that you could recommend thanks
