I have a 4 channel 2A dimmer, 5500PAC controller and a 6 Gang Saturn input switch connected together (daisy chain) however, I am unable to scan the CBus network using the Toolkit as this is reporting a failure.

The Toolkit is finding a PCI on COM6 (Which is the PAC acting as a PCI), but this is as far as I get in the wizard.

Do I need a hardware burden attached initially to scan the network before I can activate the software burden (that is part of the PAC)?

P.S. I currently don?t have any CBus LED?s illuminated on any of the units?

I must be missing something simple, can anybody offer some assistance?

    Kind Regards

There should be at least two Led on at each unit witch indicates that there is power & the unit are communicating.
As for the PC Interface is it a USB or Serial.
you will need the burden installed or you can also use a software burden with is in the units. One is only needed.

    Power supply?

Does your dimmer have a built in power supply?

If so is it connected to mains power?

    details

yes the dimmer is providing the power
By the sounds of it my problem is related
To only having one led lit on each device.

As yet I have not been able to activate the selectable
Burden in either the dimmer or PAC so do I need a plug
    In burden?

If I ignore the input device the two devices
Only require a single patch lead between them?

You could be lacking a "Clock" as well.. one of the units has to function as a clock.. try putting the Dimmer into "learn" mode by holding down one of the little channel buttons on the front for 10 seconds.. after it goes into Learn.. hold the button down again for 2-3 seconds to take it out of learn.. Hopefully you'll have two leds lit on the front of the unit after that.

The patch lead that you are using is the little pink one right.
The patch lead need to be looped from one unit to the other & then back to the PAC unit.
You must have both LED on the communicate with the PAC.

Excellent, having placed the dimmer into learn mode, all LED came on & the Toolkit can now see the network.

I did search the manual trying to find how to activate learn mode but coundn't find any specific instructions so thanks Duncan, advice was spot on.

    Once again thanks.
