    Hi Folks,

I'm trying to connect to a remote repository running on a linux box from toolkit 1.4 (build 212) running on windows XP. C-Gate on linux is 2.5.8 2108.

Units scan OK (through CNI), but when I try to edit an input device, I get "No Unit Specification Available" error. Output units work OK. Transferring units to DB fails on all input units with "Transfer failed, unit unsupported". The only input unit that works is a KEYSCEN4.

Same network operates just fine when using local or remote repository under Windoze. Any ideas?

Hi Julian, that does seem strange. Could you (a) do an "ls -laR > dirlisting.txt" in the c-gate directory, and (b) give us some examples of unit type & firmware versions that aren't working. I'll give you an email address you can use (check your PMs), or you can dump it here.

    Thanks,
    Daniel

A bit of further info and a possible solution.

Note that my config had cgate on linux set to port 20021 (not 20023) 'cause that's the port that seems hard-wired into toolbox. Whether this is correct - I don't know...

I un-installed toolbox and cgate on XP and linux, and re-intalled toolbox 1.2.0 (Build 186) and c-gate 2.3.44 (build 2077) on linux.

This appears to almost work - almost because no KEY 1's are recognized - but all other key input units are OK. C-Gate is now listening on default port 20023.

I have yet to define a precise cause of all key input units being rejected, more testing needed.

Still "No Unit Specification Available" - cgate under linux

I've hit a wall getting cgate to work properly under linux. Has anybody who runs c-gate under linux had "No Unit Specification Available" errors since toolkit 1.3?

I've tested cgate versions prior to the version supplied with toolkit 1.3, and only experience the above error with 1 key input units. After 1.3 was released, this appears to have regressed to ALL key input units, continuing into 1.4.

    I'm seeing a lot of:

20060615-205515 751 //MONTEREY - Tag information changed at tag address: //MONTEREY/!2f54c010-de8b-1028-9d99-b618bb6eed53 oldtag: null newtag: null

in the console while scanning groups (1 set for each group I think), plus:

20060615-205449 840 //MONTEREY/254 2ec43fe0-de8b-1028-9d97-b618bb6eed53 Orphaned command reply for unit 21 (suggests unit address conflict)

    when network is opened.

    Any ideas anyone?

    Problem Solved with C-Gate Patch

Daniel, thank you for the patch. This has fixed the problem. I look forward to seeing this included in future releases!
