    Hello,

I am a bit of a novice but a friend who has CBus installed by the same person as mine asked me to have a look at his ... The previous installer has gone awol so we are left with no one that has any clue to how he set it up.

Anyway I went and had a look and cannot find a CNI anywhere in it... I though that you needed this to run it but might be wrong and only need it to communicate with the cbus.

So in saying that what are my options .... he would like to get Wiser like I have on mine so would this kill two birds by installing one of these...

I installed my own wiser with a few issues initially with connecting but now it works fine and I can do my programming via the wireless now ..

Also I had a look at his touch screen and it is a 5000CT which I am usure of how to connect to program

    Cheers, Travis.

    Hi Travis,

Where are you located? I am in Sydney and am happy to help out with a visit if you are here. Alternatively, what do you need to know?

You don't need a CNI but you will need a Clock, in most cases a burden activated somewhere and enough power supplies to cover all the network's equipment. You will also need either a CNI or PCI to access the network (or Wiser with CNI). It is also better if you are using the original Toolkit Project File as it will have all the 'tags' in it, the people friendly names for each of the group addresses.

A Wiser is a mandatory addition to every C-Bus network IMHO!! :p

    Hi,

I live in Mount Isa (Far Northwest Queensland) so quite a distance.

The Owner is keen to get a wiser so this will prompt him ...

    thanks for the advice...

We will have to start from scratch and get the information off the system as the old programmer etc has left ... but we are happy to start from scratch to learn it better and get it to do things he wants ..

    Cheers, Travis...

    Hi Travis
I just left Mt Isa last week.
Would have been keen to say g'day.

Back in Brisbane and I'm missing the blue skies already.

I've not used the Wiser which is pretty good value all things considered but a favourite connection option of mine is the RS232 interface with a serial device server which you can pick up for not too much money.
Especially if you have an RS232 interface laying around.

    Best wishes
    Daryl

    Hi Daryl,

yes it would have been good to catch up..

If you are ever here again let me know would be keen to get some insight to what more we could do with the set up at home.

    Cheers,
