I have an automated sliding gate with two connections, one for pedestrian access (where the gate slides open 1 metre) and the second for vehicle access. Connecting either after the gate has opened closes the gate.

I would like to control two channels of a CBUS relay to operate from one button on a DLT; where a quick press opens just pedestrian access and a long press operates vehicle access. The same button when the gate is open with a short or long press will close the gate.

Original plans had one switch for each action, but now need to reclaim the second switch for another activity.

    All help appreciated.

Try this, program your 2 x C-Bus relay channels with the same GA and set the turn on level for 1 of them at 1%, leave the other at 100%
Then in your key input program the following:
    Short Press Retrigger timer
    Short release Recall 1
    Long press Recall 2
    Long release Idle

Set the timer on the block tab to 1 sec
    Set recall 1 to 1%
    Set recall 2 to 100%

    What will happen is:
If the GA is 'Off' then when the button is pressed the Retrigger timer will do nothing as the GA is 'Off' and the short press (recall 1) will be cause the first relay to operate or both relays to operate on a long press (recall 2)

When the GA is 'On' the retrigger timer will time for 1 sec and provided the expiry command is 'Off key' then both relays will be turned 'Off'
If you require only 1 relay channel on at a time then:
Use channels 1 and 2 on the relay unit and use the interlock feature this should give you only one channel on a time.

    It didn't work...

Finally got around to trying Wonkeys advice, for my application it did not work, although the logic was sound.

I have since discovered the gate motor has an alternative close contact that has it's own logic, where a connection of instant on and off opens partial OR a held connection of 2 seconds opens the gate fully, a second press will close.

    I have tried programming one button on a DLT to acheive a short press to open partial and using the trigger command on a long press to open fully as follows;

    Short press: On
    Short release: Off
    Long press: Trigger
    Long release: Idle

This and varients seems to fail, I suspect the retrigger first cuts the connection before reapplying, and the gate reads the connection as less than 2 secs.

Is the answer simple, what I am I missing? Thanks.

Have you tested this using a dry contact input first, to check that the gate actually responds the way you think it does?

To remotely test that the gate works this way configure the DLT key as a Bell Press. This will close the relay contact whenever you press the button and open it whenever you release the button. For example, if you hold the button down for 4.7 seconds the relay unit will close it's relay contact for 4.7 seconds. In practice this may be all you need to do with the DLT.

To make life a little easier, so that you don't have to hold the button down for a full 2+ seconds, you can change the key configuration to:

    Short press: On
    Short release: Off
    Long press: Retrigger Timer
    Long release: Idle

Set the timer interval for that block to 3+ seconds or so and set the block expiry command to Off Key.

    I am a fool!

    Hi Newman,

Yes I had already tested the dry contacts. Your DLT settings mirrored what I had tried, so with your validation I realised the problem had to be elsewhere... it was, I basically had an incorrect cable to the wrong dry contact.

The gate now works beautifully from the one button!

Incidently the brand of gate used is a Nice, compared to others like lift master, Frog, BFT et al, they design and manufacture thinking about automation and intergration and offer a little more logic and outputs than the others. - I have no affiliation, just an installer happy with the product.

    Thanks.

Great to hear! Thanks for reporting back what the problem was, and that you were successful.
