Wonder if anyone could answer me this please :

With a PAC, are youable to change the DLT labels 'on the fly' and are you also able to re-assign an existing group to a DLT button ?

ie on a DLT, button 1, can I ask the PAC to switch button 1 from being group ID 14 to say 37 ?

    TIA

You can change the text assigned to a group, using PAC. This will re-label ALL BUTTONS ON ALL DLT's on the network which have a matching group number, and are programmed to the same variant number that is issued with the label.

You cannot change the assignment of a group to a button using logic.

    Thanks

Is the HomeGate s/w the only thing that could dynamically change the group id assingnment on a DLT ? or just not possible at all ?

All C-Bus units cannot have their group number dynamically altered. The only way to change them is with C-Bus Toolkit.

Depending upon what you're doing, you might be able to create an indirect relationship between the DLT and the device it's controlling via a PAC or other logic engine unit. When the level changes on the DLT group you could copy the level to another group.

Essentially, I wanted to change what the DLT's could do depending on other actions - ie if the alarm (Comfort) is in Night mode, then I could change a bunch of DLTs to perform addiitional lighting functions instead of functions you'd use in the day time.

And vice versa - I dont need vast amounts of buttons controlling light during the daytime.

    Possible ?

Certainly possible, provided you redirect the actions of the DLT buttons through a logic capable unit, like a PAC. You could then write some logic to vary the actions depending upon time of day, or base. Depending upon what units are using those groups, you may lose the automatic error correction functionality of C-Bus by doing this.

I'd question the user-friendliness of such a set-up though. Whilst it might be a neat idea to have the functions of the switch changing at various times of day, you'd be forever having to look at the switch to work out what response you're going to get from pressing the button (provided you re-label them, of course). Most people use switches/buttons without looking at them so changing this on-the-fly may compromise the WAF.

There is another reason I could use this. And that is for AV control switching. I have a serious lack of 'button real estate' with the number of control points I need, and this could collapse those down.

For example, I can have one button that could 'cycle' through AV selections (ie STB, Bluray, Media center, etc, etc) rather than having multiple buttons.

In that case, pressing each one would cycle the text and therefore perform a different action.

Would be much preferable to re-address to a single group ID rather than having to use logic to figure it all out, but perhaps this would be possible.

Another 'feature' I'd like is for Away Mode. If Comfort/Alarm is away mode, then I'd like to disable all lighting and other controls - so anyone couldnt override the alerts in the house (such as flashing lights etc). Not that I intend to have intruders come visit of course.

That's all possible, with enough time and patience, writing plenty of logic to make it all hang together.

Just regarding the initial question, has this only recently been added to the newest firmware? The last I checked on this you couldn't change the labels via a PAC........

    Thanks.
