On C-Bus, make sure you have

    system power,
    system clock,
    burden

In toolkit, make sure you pick the right set-up:

    Serial port,
    Com number,

if all checked, and still don't work, may need to get a different USB-RS232 cable with different driver. There are some converter that may not work properly.

    Hi Wanricky

Thanks for the quick reply, maybe I confused things a little. The PCI i am currently trying to use on a job is the USB input........

In the training course I had used the USB to RS232 without any problems. It is now the first time I have tried to use a PCI with a "USB" interface.

I hopes this makes things a little more clear....clear as mud for me:)

    When you connect to the usb port on the PCI does your PC;
    1. detect the unit.
    2. load up an additional com port.

I have not used a usb pci however I suspect it has to add to your system so you can point toolkit to the relevant com port...

If the PC does detect it check your system settings to make sure the driver is working properly. If all is ok then start looking down the C-Bus path.

It might help to provide some information on what you are doing and what is / is not happening. :)

I suspect that the usb interface works the same as your usb-rs232 adapter.

Connect the usb and check your windows settings

start menu | settings | control panel | system | hardware | device manager

    click on Ports (com, lpt)

in toolbox use serial and select the correct com

I could be wrong as i have not yet used one of these yet.

Also make sure you've installed Toolkit 1.7.x and you've gone to the Toolkit File menu and installed the USB PCI driver before connecting your USB PCI to the PC. You'll then need to re-start C-Gate/Toolkit so that C-Gate sees the newly-added COM port.

Oh yea I forgot to mention that.

Connect the usb pc interface before you start toolkit.

If you have already started toolkit restart it making sure you shutdown the c-gate server when you do.
