I was in a house roof the other day that used GE 50w 12V halogens.
What I noticed was these globes emit nearly no light into the ceiling (Attracting the bugs at night) also the heat backwards was significantly less.

These lights were protected by ISOLITE.

    When I compared the globes.

    Philips.
    The filament is vertical
The reflectors is inside the glass

    GE
    The filament is Horizontal
The reflector is painted on the inside of the glass and there is a silver paint on the outside back as well

Both have glass fronts. so I assume this blocks the UV as they are both say UV stop.

These GE seem good as the ISOLITE is very cool and the light energy is in the room not in the ceiling.

The Philips say "Cool Beam" but I don?t know what this means.

any one else has experience with GE halogen globes ??
