    Hi,

I've got a C-bus network that generally works okay via the buttons and a keypad, however I want to interface with the system using C-gate.

When I try and connect to the network using the C-bus toolkit and I try and view the units on the network, the scan runs for about 30 seconds then comes up with an error dialog:

    "Network Scan failed
Check Network power, burden, C-Bus Interface connection"

Using a telnet connection to C-gate directly, I get the following output from the tree, and sync commands:

    tree 254
    320- Network name:254 type=cni address=10.1.1.9:4001 state=error
    320- Unit count=0
    320- Units:
    320-Applications:
    320- Application 31 ($1f) [application]
    320- Groups:
    320- Application 56 ($38) [lighting]
    320- Groups:
    320- //NETWORK/254/56/10 ($a) level=0 state=error units= (phantom)
    320- //NETWORK/254/56/16 ($10) level=255 state=error units= (phantom)
    320- //NETWORK/254/56/31 ($1f) level=0 state=error units= (phantom)
    320- //NETWORK/254/56/34 ($22) level=255 state=error units= (phantom)
    320- //NETWORK/254/56/35 ($23) level=255 state=error units= (phantom)
    320 -end-

    net sync 254

    120-Net Sync: synchronising PCIs
    120-Net Sync: starting network discovery
120-Net Sync: Network sync duplicate detection failed.
    408 Operation failed: sync failed

I don't seem to be able to switch lights on or off either (I imagine because of the other errors):

    off 254/56/31
    408 Operation failed: //NETWORK/254/56/31

What else can I try to see what is going wrong on the network?

I ran the diagnostic utility to get the following details about the network:

    Firmware version: 5.4.00
    C-Bus Voltage: 28.1V

From the diagnostic utility, I'm able to switch lights on and off, and ramp them up and down.

Running a net sync 254 via telnet I get:

    Hi,

    I'm using Toolkit version 1.14.1, and C-Gate version 2.10.0.
The diagnostic utility version is 2.1.0.0.

    Thanks

    Hi MrMcBerry
I wonder what interface you are using to connect to CBus or if you have multiple applications trying to connect at once.

    Hi,

That seems to be what the issue was; I am connecting to C-bus via an Axium R4 router which is acting as the C-bus CNI. When I unplugged that, and connected via the rs232 link, everything began working perfectly.

Thanks very much for your help.

Thanks for the update. I'm not familiar with that router. Just for my benefit, can you confirm that you were able to connect the diagnostic utility to the Axium R4 via TCP/IP?

Also when you mention "rs232 link" is that also a port on the Axium R4, or an actual C-Bus PCI?
