I am configuring a CNI and having problems using the customers IP information. They are giving me 225.225.225.xxx for the subnet mask but this comes up as an error using the IP Utility tool saying invalid subnet mask. If I change this to 255.255.255.xxx then it works with no problem. I am having their IT person triple check this, but they assure me that 225 is correct. Any ideas?

I highly doubt 225 is correct, maybe triple check with them?

Ask the customer to read you back the IP address from a workstation and use that subnet mask.

Sometimes people use enterprise settings for a 2 computer installation and resolve the subnet mask 255.0.0.0.

You can also install Teamviewer and check yourself.

Or in Windows go to RUN... , type CMD hit enter. Type IPCONFIG, hit enter.

As we wall suspected 255.255.255.xxx was the right subnet mask. Although now we know that the CNI or Utility tool doesn't support something out of the ordinary like 225.225.225.xxx for a subnet mask.

Even if customer sends it to you three times sometimes it is still wrong.

    Thanks everyone.
