I am just wondering how good the quality control for the colour touch screens are?

I have replaced a lot of dodgy colour touchscreens with a whole range of problems. All of these problems cost someone a lot of money to find (either the client or us).

The latest one was today - which was a replacement itself!

BTW - what is the progress on the memory leak issue with the colour screens? I have a lot of screens in the field that need a propper fix. I tell the clients that they are working on it, but we haven't heard much lately on progress

    Can't speak for manufacturing quality.

Sometimes software issues look like hardware, sometimes the other way around. If they come back they will be analysed to try and find common causes.

As for the memory leak issue:

It's looking pretty good and stable. We have been trying to roll in fixes for some of the other things (some defects, some annoyances) that have been reported. I really desperately wanted to get a release candidate ready for the test group yesterday, but one of the programs we changed has turned to custard. Really odd because it runs just fine on a normal PC.

The hope is that we will have a release candidate for the test group on Monday or Tuesday. This will go for thrash-and-bash stability testing, but won't include the next release of HomeGate. That will hopefully follow in a couple of days.

We expect formal (independant) testing to take 2-3 weeks, provided they don't find any show-stoppers.

After that will come a production release.

    So...

TODAYs ETA: about 4 weeks away.

I *know* it sounds like a lot. It has all been longer and more difficult than expected, and at this stage the bigest time until release is testing. Although tempting, we won't rush testing. That would be foolish.
