    Hello again,
Someone told me that once you configure your relay using serial port/program to program that relay, you cannot program that particular relay manually, is that true?

If, when you say "using serial port/program" you mean the C-Bus Toolkit software using a PC Interface, and if, when you say "you cannot program that particular relay manually" you mean that push-button Learn Mode programming cannot be performed, then the answer is... maybe.

Normally, you can always perform Learn Mode programming however there is an option to disable Learn Mode. This option can only be disabled by deliberately turning the feature off in the C-Bus Toolkit user interface for the unit.

If this is not what you mean, can you please more clearly explain your question?

Again, the answer is 'maybe'. If you enter Learn Mode, but exit without making changes (turning output channels all off, then exit) then no changes will be made to your programming.

If you perform Learn Mode operations and exit Learn Mode then the units will update their programming with the new information.

Most Learn Mode units will choose a new Group Address when performing Learn Mode. Late Model (Output units with firmware 1.4.00 or newer) units will use their old Group Address when performing Learn Mode, if they already have one.

Ah... today i play around with my relay 12 chl. but it seems like theres something i miss out. the question is, do i need to make a loop from (Line/Hot) to 1A inorder to give load to the light? because my light doesnt lights up so i wonder what does i miss out .... besides that, i try to use test pen to check 1A , and theres no current detected. isit this means that the relay is defected?

1A 1B (or any of the realys channel's) is a normally open contact and like any contact will only switch what you wire to the terminals. So yes if your wanting to switch 240volts then you will need to take a line into 1A and the switch line out of 1B. :)

Most C-Bus Relay products use what are called 'voltage free contacts'. This just means that both sides of the relay contact are available for use, and they are connected to the 1A and 1B terminals. There is no internal connection from the mains supply to the relay contacts. You need to wire it yourself, as you describe.

This means that you are free to connect whatever you like to the input side of each channel, and you'll get it on the output side. You will need to loop the Line/Hot lead across to all of the A-side terminals of the relays if you want to feed that to your loads/outputs.
