Is it an Australian regulation that a red wire is used for the live/active wire in the cbus installation instead of Brown? I know in the UK that red and black use to be the standard colours for single phase wiring but know brown and blue is the standard here. Its just that some of the pictures I have seen have a mix of both colours is it just that these are a mix of old and new cabling or is there a wiring standard I am missing.

    Current Australian standards are

For fixed wiring red/black for active/neutral
For flexible wiring brown/blue for active/neutral

Cant help you for your local standrds though.

    Thanks.

Brown/Blue is the standard here. I was just curious to the colours in the pictures

    Wiring colours

Not just standard in UK but a requirement under BS7671 wiring regs (amended 2004)
