I have a number of 12 channel relays that were all purchased at the same time. Some have firmware version 1.3 and some firmware version 1.6.

Are there any major differences between these versions? Are changes to firmware versions documented ?

Apart from a pile of bug fixes, the most notable change is to do with Learn Mode. If the channel doesn't have a group assigned, Learn Mode works the way it always has. If the channel already has a group assigned, then entering Learn Mode will re-use the same group address. In this way, performing Learn Mode programming won't break things like logic and touchscreen programming. Most key units will also turn on their corresponding indicators to show that they're already learned to that group address.

    Thanks Newman.
    - Are these bug fixes published anywhere?
    - Is there anyway to upgrade the firmware on dimmers and relays(presumably by sending the unit back to Clipsal)?

These bugs nearly always relate to gory back-end details, like the way Toolkit interrogates the unit, or adding support for better/faster ways of doing stuff. The only known bug that affects customers in Output unit 1.3.0 is that Interlocking is not available on the 8-Channel relay unit. If your 8-channel relay unit is running firmware 1.6.00 and the unit type is RELDN8B, then it will have interlocking. That, and the Learn Mode changes, are the only differences in the customer experience of the product.

For standard C-Bus products, like key units or dimmers/relays like this, the firmware is not upgradeable. Only more complicated products, like the PAC, Wiser, Touchscreens, etc have field upgradeable firmware.
