Guys ... need some pointers in respect of scene management, specifically controlling them with groups.

I am running HomeGate rather than cToutch but the questions / answers should be the same I think.

Assuming I have a Scene, specifics are not important, which is defined in Cgate. It currently has no trigger gp but could have.

If I add a soft button to the interface and set it up as a dimmer for example, I can have it nudge/ramp my scene by setting the button to a scene group (The name of my scene) on the cbus tab .... Now the button works as expected but I cant control it from the network.

If the button were defined as a special function, which unfortunately doesn?t include a ramp/nudge scene command then it could be controlled via the network with a single gp.

Am I missing something, I sort of hope so, all I really want to do is nudge a cgate scene with a gp from a remote key/keys.

Would love to be proved silly right now ... any thoughts?

They are similar in most of their operation.

We do not recommend using C-Gate scenes any more. Scenes are best stored in HomeGate or a touch screen, which I assume you are actually doing.

This will only work from the HomeGate user interface.

It is not possible to have a button which is remote controlled from C-Bus also controlling C-Bus.

Your best bet would be to use logic. Have you used logic before?

    Such is life ... Thanks

That I have sir .... and yes I do mean HomeGate, which is what I am using.
(Just as well you have some idea what it is that I am doing .... LOL)

It is just that I am told I have a propencity for overcomplicating things and wanted to make sure I wasnt just missing something silly before I started.

My client wants 5 rows of lights, in a cinema area, to cascade off starting at the screen with a single button press. He also wants the same lights to be managable as a conventionally dimmed groupe IE toggle dimmers with master up and down keys.

I have a plan, OK well part of a plan .... and will now have a detailed look at it ... your clarification of my asumptions / finding and questions is very much apriciated.

    Thanks

    Al

I suggest you put all those lights into groups as you would conventionally.

Then use a scene and/or a combination of scenes with logic to achieve the cascade effect.
