I would like to run Homegate on a tablet PC to gain some more flexibility.
The problem is that all tablet pc's running Windows CE.
    Is this a problem?

Homegate does not work on Windows CE. It requires Windows XP or similar. It is a Win32 application.

Could I install Homegate on a desktop PC and work the tablet PC as a wireless monitor?

Probably, if you can use remote desktop connection, or VNC, or similar.

Getting the appropriate s/w for the tablet PC end might be the challenge.

An other idea is to run homegate on a desktop PC and using the Internet Explorer of the Pocket PC to get access on Homegate.

How about 'Windows XP Embedded' running on a Panel PC? Will HomeGate run on these?

Yes. Our Colour Touch screen product uses Homegate running on Embedded XP.

You might have some success using ServerX on the homegate machine serving web pages to the tablet.

    This is possible, BUT...

The process of tuning and selecting the components (of XPe) that are needed is far from trivial. You need a very, very good knowledge of the makeup of the Windows OS and the parts that are used by HomeGate. Sure the XPe target designer helps, but it is not perfect and you can very easily follow a standard recipe, and get a hugely bloated monster that is no better than just using the desktop version :(

This one is not for the faint-hearted.
