    Hi,

I recently brought a bunch of saturn switches from a cbus installer, he has a cbus id. However, he gave me switches that are GF and power points that are PW. I really prefer not to deal with this guy anymore, can anyone help a poor guy out and help me swap my switches for PW? *sob*

Just to clarify, this guy is a qualified cbus installer, I brought the gear off him with the intention of getting him to install. However, we have had a falling out and now I am stuck with these switches. The switches are brand new and unopened all with serial numbers stickers unpealed.

    paulevans,

Have you tried contacting clipsal or your local clipsal representative?

    Cheers,

If I understand your issue correctly you bought these Saturn C-Bus switches and Saturn socket outlets from an installer (whom you've since "fallen out" with) and the colours don't match, i.e. the glass front C-Bus Saturn switches have the green tinge (because they are glass) and the plastic-covered Saturn socket outlets are pure white (moulded plastic)? I take it you're hoping that someone will have some Pure White C-Bus Saturn switch fascias that they're willing to swap for your glass ones?

I assume you're aware that the switch fascias are available separately? If you wanted to make your socket outlets match the C-Bus Saturn switches you can purchase the corresponding OM (Ocean Mist) coloured fascias for the socket outlets.

Or alternatively, the cbus glass switches are now available in PW.. You could order new covers for the switches to match the powerpoints..

I am a bit surprised someone from Clipsal wasnt of any help at all..

    Cheers,
    Nik

Yes to Newman & Roosta, all the boxes says they have been made in 2011. Yes, that is an option I can buy replacement fascias... Then I will have a bunch of fascias I don't need. Fallen out == yes, I do not ever want to deal with this guy ever again. He was unreliable, was uncontactable for periods of time etc, and well giving my mixed saturn switches like this does not leave me with much confidence in him. CBUS website lists trusted wholesalers but not list of installers, having this will help people like me know who is good and who is bad.

I'm not sure which website you're referring to however there is the "C-Bus Approved Installer" program and website :

    http://www.clipsal.com/cbusai/home

and also the C-Bus "pointOne" program and associated website :

    http://www.c-buspointone.com.au/

I can sympathise with your position, but really it's your choice whether to deal with this guy to sort out the problem or not to deal with him.

If the issue is that he didn't supply what you ordered then he probably has some kind of legal obligation to do so.

The only people around here that might be able to help you would be other integrators, but in order to do so they would have to have an immediate need to order exactly the same combination of 20 units that you have to exchange... which seems like a bit of a long shot.

    A few other ideas :

    - If you could find out which wholesaler he bought them from you could try approaching them to get them to exchange them for Pure White (AIUI the cost is the same).

    - If you plan to engage another installer/integrator to do the job, then they may be willing to exchange the units for you.

Thanks for the advise Nik, here is the link when you click on approved installers: http://www.clipsal.com/cbusai/find_a_c-bus_approved_installer

    The contents:

    Find a C-Bus Approved Installer
This section is currently in development

Thank you for your interest in locating a C-Bus Approved Installer. Please go to our contact page to send us your information, we will send you details regarding suitable C-Bus Approved Installers in your area.

And yes I have contacted them to contact me about installers, no response nada. And yes I have contacted clipsal about my problem. Their response "We can't exchange them because then we will have too many GF and not enough PW", thank you clipsal, I feel so proud that the tiny amounts I have can affect your stock level. I would happily swap my PW for GF as well, but hey, why should they help me when they know I will just have to shell out more money to buy new fascias.

Thanks newman, as always your posts are appreciated. Do you know if the fascias on the 5084NL and 4064PB-OM are the same? Or are they different? Can they be interchanged? Are they both made of glass?

The fascias are not the same, nor are they interchangeable. The C-Bus ones are glass and the the button cap remains with the body of the switch. The electrical ones are plastic and the button cap is captive to the cover. The two mount to the switch using different mechanisms.
