Setting up Scenes seems to produce frequent posts on this Forum. Since completing my C-Bus training I have only created some very simple scenes. Looking at the literature for Scenes available on the Clipsal web site makes me wonder if more could not be offered.

I have some questions on Remote Triggering but firstly here are links to some of the literature I found and some comments.

This is a useful document and fills in many gaps ? but still leaves me with a few queries. Suggest it is moved from the current Forum location of ?General/Announcements? to ?C-Bus Products/Quick Tutorials?.

(then navigate to "Scene Programming" near the bottom of the page)
This training manual is exclusively devoted to Scenes and was a comprehensive document in its day. It is now way out of date. I would like to see it updated as a complete reference to Scenes.

    (see pages 72 to 77)
This is the current C-Bus Basic Training Manual Vol. 2. It contains only basic information on Scenes and no information about Remote Triggering.

The Help file in Toolkit does not provide a lot of assistance for Scenes. One part of the Help (C-Bus wired input units/Neo style key input units/2 key input/configuration/Scenes tab) says ?Defining scenes requires a trigger group.? I believe this is incorrect as Scenes can be created without trigger groups.

I could not find any reference to the Key Function ?Scene Modify? in any documentation, including the Toolkit Help. There are references in Forum posts.

Here are some questions I have about Remote Triggering:-
(These all relate to Wired Networks (i.e. NOT Wireless Networks).
    (1) All keys on an Input Unit can only use the one Trigger Group ? correct?

    (2) If (for example) the Key Input Unit was an 8 button Neo and the eight available scenes were all set up with different configurations AND there was a need to Remotely Trigger separately each scene then each scene would need a separate Action Selector and each of these could use any value from 0 to 255 to Activate (or Set) the scene, but only one scene could be active at a time ? correct?

In current WIRED key units, yes.

In current WIRED key units, yes.

Unfortunately these limitations don't allow independent scenes to be set up and run from a single wired key units. Wireless key units and touchscreens are more powerful. This situation will change in future with more powerful scenes expected in future wired key units. However, don't hold your breath expecting a release in the next 10 minutes :)
