    Hi Guys,

Just got the new 5500shac and trying to set up some time based schedules.

But it seems i'm doing something wrong. When i schedule garden lighting to come on for sunset, with no offset, the lights come one between 45mins- 1hr early. same goes for the schedule i have set for turning lights off at sunrise, they are out again. Is it a daylight saving thing because i'm in wa?

    cheers Jason

    Just spoke to the developer..

Are you in Perth or elsewhere? If you're not in Perth and haven't entered your lat and long manually then it would be basing it on Perth.

I (one of the devs) checked and the calculation for Perth is very close to that reported by Geosciences Australia which listed sunrise as 05:21 and sunset as 18:40.

The 5500SHAC should compute it as 05:22 and 18:39.

    Really appreciate the replies guys.

I have some lights left on inside for the kids at night that are set to turn off at sunrise. However when i left for work this morning at 640am they were still on. because the times mentioned above by Darius would be what I'm expecting.

The garden lights i have scheduled to turn on at sunset are also on when i get home around 530pm.

Google is stating the co-ordinates as

    Perth/Coordinates
    31.9505? S, 115.8605? E

maybe these are wrong? i will check another source.

    cheers jason

    Hi Russiops,
Can you enable logging for the object(s) you're controlling with the schedule?
You can do this by going to the 'Configuration' page, Objects tab and then checking the 'Log' checkbox for each relevant object.

After you do that any changes to the value will be logged in the 'Object logs' tab.

Can you also confirm the time shown when you go to the 'Configuration' then 'Utilities' tab then click on 'Date & Time' is correct? (and your time zone is correct).

    Thanks.

    Hi Darius,

i definitely have an issue somewhere. on following your instructions, to start the the logging i noticed the "updated at" column.

my garden lights on schedule which i have originally set with a +30 minute offsett updated at 17:56 tonight. the sun set roughly 18:42 tonight plus with my 30 minute offsett it should have been 19:12 i guess.

my lights that should turn off at sunrise this morning turned off at 6:35 am. sunrise was roughly 5:19am.

The time in my edlt zen switches is correct also. incase that matters.

    cheers jason

Can you try resetting the device? There was an issue where schedules would not run correctly due to some caching which should have been fixed but perhaps this is something similar.

    Thanks.

    HI Darius,

i restarted the device, from the web interface, no change. Did you mean a full reset by pushing the button on the front of the unit?

could it be the NTP time server it is using which is a clipsal one from memory, and W.A not having daylight savings?

Just from the web UI is fine, pity it didn't work :)

What version is reported in the bottom left corner of the configuration screen?

BTW the NTP server doesn't do DST (or timezones) at all - it only understand UTC. The device itself does the translation from that to whatever time zone you've picked.

I just double checked the image you posted and it shows the latitude as positive when it should be negative.
Can you edit your config and change it to -31.953, save and reboot the device (from the UI)?

    Thanks.

    Hi guys,

Darius has sorted it, it was my fault so apologies to you all. I cleared out the co-ordinates and left the fields blank and it is now working to within about 2 minutes of the times i would expect.

    Thanks for all your help.
