I have recently replaced an existing outdoor PIR with a new one because the old one was damaged by water ingress. I could not transfer the programming directly because toolkit said the units were not compatible, so I programmed the new unit manually with the same parameters as the old one. I set the external light level adjustment to day time and performed a walk test and everything operated as it should, I then wound the adjustment screw around 7/8 of the way towards the night time setting. The night time programming is set to be the same as motion in daylight, as was the previous sensor. The customer rang me the next day to say that the sensor did not trigger the lights at 10 pm that night and that there was no red LED visible when he walked in front of ( I have checked the programming and this has not been disabled).

Does anyone have any ideas on what may be causing this behaviour.

By this statement, do you mean that:

    • you ticked the box on the main part of the UI that says "Use Same Response Settings as "Motion in Light""; or
    • you went to the Key Functions tab and changed the ML micro functions to match those set for the MD micro functions?
The most likely cause of the sensor not triggering is that the light level threshold adjustment screw needs to be adjusted to increase the amount of light required for the unit to think that it is "dark". The fact that you were able to walk test the unit successfully suggests that the unit is working fine.

Just thought I would give an update. It seems that after I left the job the customer decided to do a bit of walk testing of his own and when he had finished he set the light level adjustment screw all the way around, I returned and tweaked it back a little and all was good in the world again.

    guilty by association

Isn't that frustrating! You set up the job correctly, someone else fiddles with it and then you get the blame / it's your problem.....guilty by association:mad:
I hope you charged them a 2nd call out!
