    Hi All,

Can anyone tell me if they have successfully used the L5501RBCP Blind & Shutter Control Relay to control Silent Gliss 5090 curtain tracks in the UK, I am not very experienced installer and have been installing CBUS in my house as a fun project with the help of an electrician for 2 years now and just getting round to looking at automated curtains.

If someone could just tell me if they have successfully used this combination I can at least buy the necessaries and then try and work out how to do it when I have them :)

    Many thanks in advance.

    Lee

    Autoglide 5090

    Hi Paul,

Thank you for trying to help...sorry I cant see from the post what the conculsion was:

What did you do in the end? .. did you use Autoglide 5090, I dont have the same problem as yourself regardng the buttons but am confused as what option to try (I have all buttons from a DLT if required):

Autoglide 5090 - 2 relay channels with bell press function
Autoglide 5090 - 8-Channel ELV relay unit (havnt seen where I coul get this in the UK)
    Autoglide 5090 - Shutter Relay L5501RBCP

Sorry I am not understanding whats best option ... bit beyond me to be honest :)

    http://www.letsautomate.com/pdf/silentglisswiring.pdf
On another note the diagram in the link.. is it suggesting I can wire up direct to the motor from realy but also have the switch that comes with the track all operating together .. which would be the ideal situation for me.

    Thanks for any help!

    Regrds.

I would use 3 channels of an L5108RELVP and use the contacts of the unit to effectively replace the momentary switches in that wiring diagram. Assign each relay channel a unique group address. Then, on your DLT, program each key to one of the groups and label them appropriately. Program each of your DLT keys as a Bell Press function.

This will make the relay contacts of the L5108RELVP work the same way that the momentary buttons in that diagram would work.

Once you've got this working you can experiment with other configurations to reduce the number of DLT buttons used, etc.

You can do all this with an L5504RVFP as well, but that's a bit more expensive than the L5108RELVP.

    Hi Lee,

I have got the 5090 here and have fitted them for a few clients.
I just use a spare relay channel prorgamed as bell push.
If you don't have a spare channel then the cheapest way is to by a shutter relay and connect the between a/l and open.

    Thanks

    silent gliss

hi looking at installing silent gliss 5090 on large project ,can you fit shutter relays in remote location ie back at switch room, are do you need to fit at curtain location .problem is trying to fit shutter relay into flush box as client is not happy with it being surfaced mounted even know the silent gliss unit will be surface mounted.
    cheers conor

I run a 1.5mm twin cable for power and a cat5 for control back to my c-bus locations.

    gliss

    hi ben ,
is it 1.5 for general power and cat 5 for dry contacts on the silent gliss unit .not sure with the wiring diagram weather or not there is a voltage present on the control side of the silent gliss or just a set of contacts that need reversed polarity to change direction was concerned about size of cable required if i was to mount the shutter relay in my control panel in basement say 30mts away .

    cheers conor

    Hi Conor,

    Its just a dry contact.
I mount my 24v power supplies remotely to save space near the windows.

    thanks

    hi ben ,
    thanks that helps alot .
with silent glis it looks like you can control a room full of curtains with 1shutter relay if you want them all to open and close at same time ,i have this working on some vertical blinds on other job and the odd time 1 out of 3 blinds might not open ,just concerned as there is 40 + curtains on job and i have a budget to work to ,
    kind regards

    Lee,
    Sorry for the delayed reply..

At the moment I am awaiting delivery of one of the Eeziglide Mains tracks to take a look at (link in the other thread..)

I had a Slient Gliss track (don't think it was the 5090, but the previous model Dawn and Dusk or something..)

I was disappointed, as it didn't last long before the gearbox (I think) gave up, and they are rather noisy in operation.
The other issue, which maybe fixed with the 5090 model, was that removing the power and then re-applying made the curtains operate again in the other direction. Power cut in the middle of the night, would mean all your curtains would open..

These are the reasons I'm looking at alternates.

If you have the budget, apparently the Golest is worth a look, although I have no personal experience..

    Mains powered curtains over the 24v seem to give two options for install;
    - 4 core mains cable back to central cbus closet wiring (shutter relay)
    - mains cable and cbus cable to each window, shutter relay in clipsal enclosure behind curtain for local control.

I'll post back if this mains track is worth a look..

    Regards,
    Paul
