Hey guys - I'm hoping somebody might be able to help me out here.

I have Squeeze Server application running on a server running Server 2003. I have a color touchpanel on the project that I'm trying to get to connect.

I have checked my IP settings countless times, including checking to make sure port 9090 is specified. I have tried this from the Project Details screen and from my button, and from both. I have also verified my MAC addresses to be correct and even tried entering them with the bytes separated with both colon's and dash's.

I have verified that "start Slimserver at startup" is checked, and I have looked at Slimserver to make sure that I am seeing data on there. I have checked this both on my PC within the PICED environment, and also I caught the Slimserver terminal on the CTC itself. The data is there!!!! I can see it all. I even shut down my server and tried to make sure that I didn't see data in there when it couldn't be reached - that worked - all I saw was connecting, no server found so it seems to me that my IP connection is good.

So I know my data is there, but the Media window will not populate with the data!!! All it says is "Stopped 0:00 0:00"

I have read every thread in here that I can find about the Squeezebox solution.

Do you think I need to downgrade my server software version - I have the latest version of that installed (I think v7.x).

Also, I should note that I'm coming from the USA - is there any chance that this wouldn't work here because there is a different version of Squeeze Server software used in other parts of the world?

I know I'm stretching, but as you can see I'm at a total loss!

Ok - this is a good start.

On the "Options 2" page of the PICED Project Details wizard.

What do you have set on the Media/General tab? The address you specify here is actually the address of the machine that the "Slimserver Interface" is running on.. so in your case, you probably want to select "Automatically find server(s)" option, or leave it at 127.0.0.1 (ie the local machine) and the default port.

Note that you can also specify this information on the Special Function button you use to launch the Media Director... this is useful if you have more than one server (ie slimserver interface on the touchscreen, and media player on another machine).. you can have buttons that bring up one, the other, or both.

Let us know how you go.

    Thank you!!!

    Nick -

You hit the nail on the head my friend!! I can't say thank you enough!

The interface on the Project Details Options 2 page are a bit vague. On the general tab, it asks for the IP address and port of the 'server' which I thought meant my server. It didn't really fully comprehend to me why I had to put that in there, AND on the Slimserver tab, but now I get it. It seems to me that the general tab should be labeled that it's looking for the SlimServer terminal - or, I guess that the General tab makes sense when using it with Windows Media Player - which I've used before, so maybe it would make more sense to have to input the IP of the device running the Slimserver terminal on the Slimserver tab...

Oh well, I guess I'm just rambling on now, but once again, thank you very much for your suggestion - it worked like a charm!

    I'm still struggling here ...

My situation is that within PICED I can connect to SqueezeCentre with the SlimServer Interface and see the metadata and the Media Interface populates and works. However when I download the project to the Colour C-Touch I see the Slim Interface app window repeatedly trying to connect but it is failing (Connect Fail). Hence the media panel shows just stopped 0:00 0:00

The SqueezeCentre PC has no firewall or internet shield software enabled - do I need to configure anything differently for C-Touch ?

I tried moving the CLI port to 20050 and also enabling ports in the C-Touch firewall (which need to be below 20000). I have tried adding 192.168.1.* to the allowable incoming address filters in SqueezeCentre but it made no difference and I reverted to 'do not block'.

    K

Edit: I can connect from C-Touch Media Interface via Slim Interface on the PICED PC to SqueezeCentre.

Glad you got it sorted :)

It confused me for a long time too before it was explained to me how it worked (ie what servers run where, and which one each tab refers to). Once I understood this it made much more sense.

Do you have a password setup on your CLI? I had some problems with the Slimserver Interface logging in a while back.. at the time I turned off the password protection on the CLI and it worked fine, and I've never re-enabled it. I don't know if this got fixed or not.

Failing that.. just to check.. what are the settings on the Options 2 page :

    - On the Media/General tab
    - On the Media/Slimserver tab

I do suspect a CLI login issue but I don't have passwords enabled at all. The exact same setup works within PICED so it's very curious.

    Media General Tab

    Automatically find servers is checked
    (below greyed out)
    127.0.0.1
    20030

    Media SlimServer Tab

Start SlimServer interface when program starts checked
    192.168.1.75
    19050 (same as CLI)
-tried all sorts here - settled on this port because it can be opened in the C-Touch firewall although I don't think this is necessary as it's a destination port
Username , password, MAC fields blank.

    K

I'm looking into the TCP exchanges with WireShak - I'll let you know what I see that is different between the PC access and the C-Touch one. Do I have to use a SlimServer port above 20000 or does 9090 work. Do I need any Firewall entries on the C-Touch ?

This seems to be a network issue here - when I moved the C-touch to a different network switch (same model) it worked. What's curious is that now moving it back to the original switch and same port it works too ...

    So all working :)

    Kevin

PS Just for completeness the Wireshark trace showed that the first data request from the C-touch never arrived (player count ?) although the TCP connection had established.
