    hi guys,

just wondering how hard it would be to incorporate a comment/revision history field into the main project window when a project is selected?

there is currently a lot of empty space towards the bottom of the screen and i think this would fit in nicely in that area.

this would help in my situation, and i'm sure plenty of others, because 9 times out of 10 i will do the toolkit program for a job and then someone else will dump it into the units.

it would be really nice if they could tell straight away where the project was up to or whether any of the units still needed final programming touches before going ahead with the job.

it would also help me on the dusty mornings when my mind likes to forget where i was up to the day before :)

    thanks for any comments/feedback

Strangely enough, this one is on our list!

It will most likely not make it into some planned releases for the next few months, but after that, there is a possibility.

I would like to add some thing new to this
It is better to provide arrangement to store (in xml file) few description on each project files so that it is very easily distinguish from other. (like complete name of the project, location, programmer, client etc.). Current file name is limited to 8 character. I have now more than 40 project in my toolkit and some of the file names are short name to the project and I also forgot these names now.

Also this will very useful when someone else referring the file other that the installer or programmer.

Just a suggestion for the next version of toolkit since we are on the subject. In the logic tab in output units can we have a button on the left hand side that would tick all boxes for the 4 groups and the two and/or boxes. That would save a lot of time. Nice suggestion reece m about project details/status information.
Also noticed in 1.10.1 selecting groups by their numbers ie 001 doesn't work properly.

Can a right click option be added to a group address 'Show Group Dependencies' that would take the programmer to the same page that you get when viewing the group address under the application?

    While we are making requests.
A lot of my programming is performed on a laptop, on site and I have an issue when I use the touch pad.

If I have been using a combo box or a combo box is the next item in the tab line, when I use the touch pad to move the mouse, apart from moving the mouse it can also scroll the contents of a combo box to a setting I did not set. The touchpad is reading the mouse movement as a key press as well as movement and the program is responding accordingly. You can have moved the mouse say 3/4 of the way down the page to click update, before it interprets the movement as a key press and plays Russian roulette with the combo box settings. (My experience has shown me that it is just as likely to scroll an unrelated combo box as the one you have just used.)

This has caused me so much grief that I now use an external mouse to prevent this from happening. (Try finding a flat mousing surface on a job site) This has the potential to cause some real damage, as the programmer may not know that the system has been programmed to perform a task that could be detrimental to equipment or even life and limb.

Is it possible to code the combo boxes so that they will not scroll unless the mouse has specifically selected the combo box? (Having the combo box open). Having just set the contents of a combo box and just moving the mouse off the combo box can be enough to scroll the contents.
I have never noticed this with the other programs I use on my laptop, but then again the other programs do not rely so heavily on the proper setting of combo boxes.

    Touchpad

    Hi Colin,

This behavior may be the feature of the touchpad. It is common for the touchpad to imitate the function of the mouse scroll wheel when you move the finger over the rightmost part of the touchpad from top to bottom or in the opposite direction. If you are moving finger in the middle area of the touchpad it imitates the normal mouse move.

There must be a way how to disable the Touchpad Scrolling using its configuration utility (at least I was able to do this on my Dell laptop using DellTPad.exe configuration utility). So this may be something you can try and see if it helps.

    Regards,
    George

On which form/dialogue do you want to see the new right click option? We have group address combos on more than one dialog.

With regard to disabling the "Tap-to-click" functionality of your laptop touchpad, if you go into the Windows Control Panel, and then select the "Mouse" icon.
(If you do not see the icon, then click on "Switch to Classic View" in the upper left side of the window, and it will show you all available control panel options)

I'm on a desktop computer right now, not my laptop, so I can't tell you exactly which tab the option is in that you want to disable, but if you look for a checkbox called "Tap-to-click", and disable that, then hit "Apply" and then "OK", you should have no more of the problems that you're talking about.

This is a fairly universal setting across nearly all laptops/notebooks/etc, so with a little looking around in the Mouse settings, you should be able to resolve the problem easily.

At first I was going to suggest just the list of group addresses in an application (ie the dialog where you select the application on the left and you see all the groups then add/remove etc). That way you could just add another button at the top next to the add/remove etc groups.

But then I realized that you have various options when right clicking any group address from pretty much every dialog so why not just add it to that list?
This way from an "Edit Relay" dialog i could right click a GA select the option and look at all the other places this GA has been programmed into.

I use toolkit on laptops all the time without external mice.

One laptop (Eee PC 901) has a dual touch pad which I find overly sensitive but so far I have managed to live with it.

The other (a Dell inspiron 1720) has a standard touch pad which works really well. I do find the media keys can do strange things to toolkit but I cant replicate that at the moment.

Like Darpa has suggested maybe try adjusting your touchpad settings.

Sometimes you can download updated or alternative drivers that will add extra functionality which might be something to look into.

Not sure how others will feel about this but can Delete Application be removed from the toolbar when displaying all the groups within an Application.

It doesn't need to be here (Application properties can be edited when you click on the Application tree menu) and only causes confusion when editing groups.

I know there is confirmation but I have managed to accidentally delete a custom application with about 60 groups in it. Lucky for me I had a backup.

    another suggestion

In the Dali Gateway screen, is it possible to prevent the Combobox containing the DALI <-> C-Bus group assignments from always returning to the top item?

I find this very annoying, as i usually create all my groups first, then go through and assign them sequentially to the DALI Gateway channels.

    ping - voltage sort

Can we please have the ability to sort the voltage column of a "Ping with Voltages" so we can easily see the range of voltages on a network.

    Documentation

It would be nice if, when I "document the database", to be able to select tag name, part name, and serial number. That way I could go out on site and put the right components in the right rooms. :)
