    Hi all,

Just doing some research to see if what I'd like to achieve is possible.

One example that comes to mind that I am unsure of, is say I have a normal 2 Gang switch (sc2000 series cbus range), and I wanted switch one to control one set of lights, and switch two to control another set... Could I have logic running, that would make an independant digital output run for ex minutes?

I want a ceiling fan to run for 20 minutes upon any of the two switches going on or off. I do not want the fan on a dedicated switch... Is this possible? Bear in mind, I'll have a touch screen (with logic) installed on the premises.

A touchscreen with logic makes this sort of thing fairly straightforward, and you can do some really cool things using logic.

If you're just after some kind of basic "if either x or y is turned on, then run the fan", you can do this using the in-built logic in the dimmer/relay you're using without needing to write logic in your touchscreen. For the appropriate dimmer/relay channel you can assign the two lighting groups to be logic groups and configure them as AND or MAX logic with the relay/dimmer channel.

It's worth taking some time to think out exactly what you want to have happen. For example,

    • Do I want the fan to run when either or both of the light circuits are on?
    • Do I want the timer to start when the first, second or both sets of lights turn off?
    • How long do I want the timer to run?
    • Are there going to be times when I don't want this logic to be in operation?
    • Do I need independent control of the fan from somewhere?
    • If the fan is on a dimmer, do I want to use intermediate speeds under some circumstances?
    • What do I want the indicators on the switch to be doing during these times?
These sorts of things are worth figuring out before you start programming. The reality is that pretty much anything is possible, but there's no need making it more complicated than it needs to be either.

Some basic things are possible using output unit logic or clever input unit programming. If you do this using logic in the C-Touch, then the only limits are your imagination, time and patience.
