Testing without gateway

Iam trying to test a DLT switch at home on a network with a dimmer, DLT and PC interface on what should be a 2 network system (cat5 and RF).
Toolkit connects ok but when I use piced and try to connect to cbus the log says no gateway found (which is correct) and will not go online.
Short of deleting the gateway in toolkit how to i fool piced into just looking at hardwired side and ignore the no gateway like toolkit.
There must be a way Darren, guess I can get a real touch unit and add to network and keep downloading to it.

I am a little confused

You say you are trying to test a DLT, but then are talking about PICED, which has nothing to do with the DLT. You don't appear to have any devices which PICED is used for, so I can only assume that you are using PICED for logging or something like that.

I assume that the "gateway" you are talking about is a Wirelss C-Bus Gateway. If this is missing, then the wireless network will not be visible. PICED should operate fine with the wireless network off-line. Naturally, you will not be able to control the wireless network, but you should be able to control the wired network.

Can you please clarify :
- what your set-up is
- what you are trying to do
- what error messages (if any) you are getting
- what you think should be happening
- what is actually happening

Just tried to make a log file today and piced works as I expect, yesterday never got the "all networks open" message.
The joys of working with computers.

in the color touch install manual section 5 page 9 says the "unit must be mounted vertically" is that correct

Yes, that is correct.

 

By "vertically" it is meant that the vents are across the top and the bottom of the unit. Landscape mode if you will. This is to allow proper ventilation of all the internal electronics by convection.

 

"Unit must be mounted vertically" means that you shouldn't lay it flat (on a bench for example) and run it. This will stop the air convection and make it over heat.

You do also need to have it in "landscape" orientation.

Never though about laying it flat was looking at screen - think landscape is a better description.
