This topic has been covered, but I think it needs to be revisited.

Due to all the threads I have read, refering to Colour C-Touch Problems.

I have been running HomeGate on a PC, with a 3M Colour Touchscreen. This machine has not skipped a beat.

Yet all these Colour C-Touch Screens are colapsing around me.

What do others say?, are people still choosing a embeded system over the PC solution. Why?

I believe a well sorted PC Hardware solution is the best way to go. These can be assembled for the same Price as a Touch Screen these days.

    Do people still disagree ??

I have Homegate running on an embeded system
This hasnt missed a beat either

My guess is that Ctouch will end that way when it is fully sorted

I would always keep a PC out of my main HA control sytem

You are absolutely correct. In the colour C-Touch, the problem is not with HomeGate as such, but with an aspect of the operating system. This problem appears to have been resolved, but we need to do a lot of testing before we can release the update.
I think you have kind of missed the point here. The colour C-Touch IS a PC solution. The hardware and operating system is optimised for our particular use.

Surely Darren the C-Touch is an embeded solution?
or is the C-Touch trying to run "PC" XP from a flash card?

I guess it comes down to the definition of embedded. The CTC is embedded because we lockout changing anything. But it is also a PC as the hardware is all based on the PC architecture. The operating System is a tweaked version of Windows XP designed for using in embedded products, but essentially the same core as normal Windows XP Professional.

So as far as I'm concerned the CTC is both an embedded product and a PC based product.
