    Some oddities:

On any of the channel tabs, click Single Load and Bank Switch ticks itself and greys out.

Move to a different tab and then back again, Bank Switch is no longer greyed out and can be unticked.

Bank Switch seems to do the opposite of what I'd expect and what the training manual says (I think). When Bank Switch is ticked, the 5504GI issues an Off command prior to an On. When Bank Switch is NOT ticked, it only ever issues On commands.

Not sure exactly how to recreate it, but you can end up with the first event larger than the second (although with all the other events remaining in sequence).

    Cheers,

    Nick

    Thanks Nick,

We're actually in the process of a big revamp of this UI which we hope to release soon.. I've noted your issues and we'll nail these shortly. Thanks for posting.

Hopefully including the negative offset that Daniel logged the other day. :)

Thanks for your continued support in the forums!

A bit more on this one.....
It seems that if you tick Bank Switch, save to the unit and then retrieve the unit from the network again, the first event is the highest, but events two through eight remain ascending as they were at the time of the save.

    Hope that make sense!

Yeh, that was nailed by the developer within an hour of Daniel letting him know of the problem. Talk about perfect timing on your part.

What does it do at the moment?

I am currently running Toolkit 1.5. The behaviour I want from the GIU is that all outputs "below" the current level are "on".

The training manual suggests that this is "Bank Switch", but whichever combinations I try, I don't seem to be able to get to that behaviour.

Can any helpful CIS person tell me how to do that now (before the promised major revamp)?

    Thanks, Nick

    Damn - I haven't cracked it !

Or rather, I've almost cracked it!

With just the Bank Address box ticked, it does indeed now seem to keep all the outputs below the current level turned "on", and it does issues "off" commands as the level drops again.

However, I have been a bit thrown in my testing because it seems that the only way (with my light sensor) to get the GIU to set all the outputs properly, is to cover the sensor with something dark for a while and then uncover it again.

Is there any way to tell the GIU to send an update to the bus on what it thinks the levels should be at any given time?

    Thanks

    Good morning, Nick.

I am having a bit of trouble trying to replicate the behaviour you are describing regarding the bank switching functionality working 'backwards' to what you expect.

Are you able to take a screenshot of the PC_GIM GUI window and post it here? I think this may yield some clues as to what might be going on.

I am running now with just Bank Switch ticked and it is working as documented. I think the "reverse" behaviour was happening when I got to the position of Single Load ticked and Bank Switch also ticked (but greyed out). Daniel has already documented that one!

I think Toolkit has also caused me some problems - as explained in my last post. Until I take the unit's input down to nothing and then back up again, Toolkit does not necessarily display the correct values. It is as if there is a need for the unit to "broadcast" its current settings (for all groups) so that everything else (eg C-Gate, Toolkit) does not have to say "Unknown".

I hope that hasn't just confused things even more!

    Hey Nick,

I've tried getting my PC_GIM to do what you have said in your latest post, but I just can't reproduce it.

    Beats me.

    Which bit Beem:
    • Greyed out box?
    • Not showing all values in Toolkit?
    • Working backwards?
Greyed out box is easy - start with just Bank Switch ticked, then click Single Load. See graphic attached.

Toolkit shows Groups as "not known" until the unit has issued a change. So, for example, for a light sensor with bank switch ticked, when Toolkit starts, it shows one Group as "on" and all the others as "not known". The other Groups only start to show "on" or "off" once the related "level" has been visited by the light sensor. Also (see next paragraph), this sometimes requires a restart of Toolkit before the levels show - which may be part of my perceived problem.

I have discovered what I think is a related issue (but haven't raised it yet until I have more detail) where Toolkit does not immediately "see" changes. It seems to be that where a Group does not have a "real" output unit associated with it (but I'm not 100% on that yet), Toolkit shows the change in Application Log, but does not immediately reflect it in the summary of Groups (ie you can see a Group On go past in App Log, but when you go back to the Groups list, it still says Off or Not Known). Once Toolkit is restarted, the Groups value is correct from the start.

I think the backwards effect of the Bank Switch came when the box was ticked but greyed out. From my point of view, I am happy that I have the think working now - please don't spend more time on that one on my account!

    Hope that clarifies, a bit?

    Nick

    Hey Nick,

When "Single Load" is checked the correct behaviour is for the "Bank Switch" check box to be checked and disabled. There were a few small issues with this in the PC_GIM GUI in 1.5, like sometimes the check box was not disabled, etc.

Hmm, this sounds like a different issue. I will investigate this. Thanks for the heads up! :)

This backwards effect is the issue I have been unable to reproduce. We willl keep an eye on it, though.

Glad to hear you got it working! :)
