We are presently trialing a 'New Unravel' option in Toolkit. This came about because users with large networks of more than 50 units reported that the current Scan operation in Toolkit was not unravelling all the units in one pass. They were in fact having to run "Scan" several times before they could see all the units. We want to make the Scan operation work perfectly with a single pass. To this end, the "New Unravel" has been rebuilt from the ground up and it will: - move the PCI or gateway unit temporarily to look for other units at that address - unravel every occupied address on the network - as a priority, move a unit to its matching database address - otherwise move it to an address not occupied in either database or network - allocate new addresses from 0 upwards - ensure that address 255 is left empty afterwards WARNING: This WILL rejig your network that you've scanned in the past. Units will end up in new locations. We don't recommend using this on an already stable, commissioned production site. ANOTHER WARNING: This is a trial, which is why it's not the default behaviour. Again, we don't recommend using this on an already stable, commissioned production site! If you have been struggling with the current Scan, please do trial the "New Unravel" and we would really appreciate your feedback. Please note that the Toolkit progress dialog isn't yet fully wired up, so it may pause for periods longer than you're used to. You'll find the "New Unravel" option in Toolkit 1.10.8 under File | Preferences: This option only affects the "Scan" button on the Network View. Other options like "Scan New" are unaffected.
