Hi everybody. I haven't visited the forum for a long long time so I had to create a new account. I live in Athens, Greece.
I have a very serious problem for the last 6 weeks and I hope to get some help from this forum.
I got a new laptop with very good specs, it is an Alienware with an Intel CPU Core 2 Duo T7200.
Since the day I got it Toolkit got crazy!!!! The configuration of a network gets very difficult because Toolkit changes most of the values and settings after I save changes to a unit. I can not explain the behaviour of Toolkit, and I am wondering if it can not coop with a dual core CPU. This is the only explanation I can give.
Do you have any ideas what is going on???
Thanx for your help and excuse me for my English in case you see any mistakes

What version of windows are you running? I don't believe CIS have given approval for Windows Vista Yet....

    Are you using Reflection switches?

First of all thanx for the quick respond.
I'm using Win XP Pro SP2, nothing is unusual. I use Neo and Saturn GF units. The problem comes up with all of the units in the network, dimmers, relays etc.
I'll try to five you an example:
Try to configure a 12ch relay (L5512RVF). Everything is set right, press the save button and close the relay window. If I want to make any changes to the unit I see different configuration like follows: a) at the "Turn on" tab all values are set to 0% and before they were at 100% b) all 12 channels are interlocked.
Similar things are happening for the dimmers and the NEO units.

The only major differece between my old and new laptop is the CPU. The old one is a Centrino and the new is a Core 2 Duo.

Plenty of people use dual core machine in the engineering department at Clipsal with no problems.

In your explaination you say things get screwed when you save a unit. Are you saving to the database - netowrk or both? If you are saving and retrieving from the network are you having comms problems?

Toolkit and C-Gate are two pretty hefty pieces of software. If you are not having comms problems your software might installed badly. If your troubles continue it might pay to uninstall Toolkit AND C-Gate then do a fresh install. Don't forget to backup your project files... :)

I run Toolkit, PICED on a brand new HP 17 inch baby with similar specs to yours and it works without fault.

Ok guys, I'll format the PC and install all the programs again. I'll let you know what will happen.
    Thanx again.

I cant imagine this will fix anything.. I'm puzzled at the problem.. but I'd be digging a bit deeper before reinstalling windows etc..

I can not think of any other solution. I face similar problems with PICED as well. I just downloaded the latest versions of Toolkit and Piced so i'll start with that, if the problem still percists I'll try to find some spare time during weekend to reinstall windows etc.

I'll give an example: Place a new C-Bus button. I need to set it as "Bell Press" in order to control a blinder. I set the level to 100% and then save. Next time I open the component properties the level is set to 0% !!!!

Well thats quite strange.. the two concepts.. saving a unit to the network and modifying the properties of a button in PICED have almost nothing in common..

I'm grasping at straws.. but perhaps some kind of bizarre RAM fault or some kind of disk caching gone bad..

Sounds too strange to me to be something wrong with the PC, its 5 weeks old and all other programs runs smoothly and fast. But there is always a chance for that.

I have had the same problems as Thanos, strangely enough it has only been with reflection switches???

I know that the Reflection, NEO and Saturn have the same core but for some reason I have found only the Reflection range to have caused me problems...
