    Hi,

Just completed a project where a Minder Unit was replaced with a colour touch screen.

The site was originally programmed by someone else. It has 14 networks and Piced 4.7.2 was used to create the touch screen project

On a couple of occasion, the touch screen has appeared to hang. It doesn't process any scene triggers, schedules or logic code.

If a scene, via a button on the touch screen, is initiated the log shows the following error:-

24/01/2010 8.19.15 AM C-Bus Tx: Set level 27, level 27, lvl27 enable On (User Click/ Scene "PIR Enable")
24/01/2010 8:19:15 AM Error: C-Bus DLL Error 6, Application not found.

I would appreciate it if anyone can advise what would be the cause of this error or help me identify this error.

    Thanks.

Is this occurring following the C-Bus connection going off-line (you will see the "no C-Bus" icon in the top left corner of the screen) ?

    Hi Darren,

It doesn't appear that the the C-Bus connection is going off-line as it doesn't display the "no C-Bus" icon in the top left corner of the screen.

I contacted CIS tech. support yesterday who advised that the laptop used to transfer the project may have a corrupted dll. I don't think this is the case as two different laptops were used, both with Piced 4.7.2.

I was advised to downgrade Piced and transfer the project which I did yesterday. I uninstalled Piced 4.7.2 and installed Piced 4.7.1 and transfered the project.

    Thanks for your help.

I have only ever heard of this happening once before, but it was occurring after the C-Bus connection was lost. There is a work-around for it, but we will be releasing a fix for this in the next release.

The work-around is to make sure that each application is used on each network, somewhere in the project. This may require adding some buttons on a hidden page to control a group on each application and network.

that each application is used on each network, somewhere in the project

Does that mean if each application is in each network in the Toolkit database that it still requires something in the Piced project for each app in each network.

    When's the fix ??

    Yes.
As soon as we can get the current build tested and released.

Keep in mind that this is a fairly rare situation, and you need a combination of factors for the problem to arise:
    1. You need multiple networks
    2. You need to be using applications other than default Lighting, Trigger Control and Enable Control.
    3. You need to be not using these applications on the default network.
    4. You need to have a dodgy C-Bus installation that causes the Colour C-Touch to lose comms.

I would not recommend making changes to anything unless you are experiencing this precise problem and can't wait for a few weeks for it to be fixed.

    Hi Darren,

Could excessive traffic cause the touch screen to lock-up?

Am I experiencing a similar situation as described in thread http://www.cbusforums.com/forums/showthread.php?t=5735

This site uses 5753L's and there can be as many as 5 units sharing the groups in a zone. There are 4 zones per network/level. The sensors are disabled during the day (working hours) and enabled after hours.

This hasn't changed since commissioning about 4 years ago, except for the minder being replaced by the colour touch screen.

    Thanks.

The Colour C-Touch screen gets re-drawn whenever anything changes. This includes C-Bus messages being received.

If a lot of C-Bus messages are received, then the screen will be redrawn a lot. If the screen is complex, and particularly if it has alpha blending or stretched images, this may take a lot of processor time.

I would suggest using the Show Usage feature on the log to make sure that the processor is staying below around 50%. If it regularly goes above that, there is a chance that the C-Bus connection will go off-line.
