I have an INT_CIS at address 253 (inside my Comfort). I also have a PCLOCAL4 at address 255 connected via an MSS100 to my LAN.

In Toolkit, I am looking at the list of Groups. When I right mouse and select the group on/off, the unit making the change is shown as 253. I'm not sure how that can be as I can only be talking to 255.

    Thoughts welcome,

    Nick

    Hi Nick
Im sure unit number 255 is reserved for "new devices" so maybe readdressing it might solve your issue...???...Usually a pc interface is addressed device 0..........

Good thought Frank (as usual!). I have renumbered the PCLOCAL4 as unit 0 and flicked a few things around in the groups display - it still stubbornly says that unit 253 (Comfort) did it.

I then tried going into Comfort and asking it to change some CBus groups - again, Toolkit says that unti 253 (Comfort) did it.

    Wierd.

So far as I can see, either Toolkit is somehow seeing both units as the same, or Comfort's UCM keeps leaping in and "echoing" everything back to the network. I don't think it's that though, because it only affects changes made from Toolkit using the PCLOCAL4.

I'm confused, but at least it's all working - apart from a confusing message or two!

    Hi Nick
Im assuming your referring to the sourceunit in the cgate messages ..??

I get sourceunit 255 whenever xPL-CGATE sends a message........Likewise whenever a message is sent from Homevision....I *think* it might mean unknown
    source or pc ...???..........

    Hi Nick,

Not sure whats going on there.. but I'll take a look at the code and see if I can explain it..

Do loads changed by Input Units report their address correctly?

    PCI unit address

As a rule i would use 250 or somewhere near it for a PCI unit address. Some
of the older documentation and some people do use "000" however, you will
find once you get used to taking the PCI with you from job to job, that
using "000" as an address automatically gives you unit address conflicts.

Much better to have a transient PCI on a higher unit address, to enable
    better portability between projects.

Yes. Also, if Comfort does actually switch something, that is also correctly reported. It's only when I use the 5500 that it all gets confused.

    Charlie,

Thanks for the pointer to an earlier post. That sounds very similar, although that one was "never" the PCI, whereas mine is "always" !

    Cheers everyone for helping,

    Nick
