Up until a few months ago, my colour touch screen had been working flawlessly for 6 years.
Recently it has stopped responding to touch and I have to regularly reset it.

After the 1st few times i did a firmware upgrade and reloaded the project which seamed to work however this was short lived as it started doing it again and now i have to reset it at least once a day (sometimes twice) to get it working again (I've given up putting the GF back on!)

I've tried plugging a KB in and it is not recognising anything plugged into the USB ports.

When its working, it works fine and I have not made any changes to the project - it has remained virtually unchanged from the start.

I'd like to try a new CF card, incase mine has become corrupt, before I fork out for a new screen but tech support advised that new CF cards were no longer available.

    Any suggestions?

Can you advise which model you have? CTC1, CTC2 or CTC3?

Also, please add your location. This also helps when responding, particularly in you are not in Australia.

I'm pretty sure it is a CTC2, it has the 7pin power supply plug.

    I'm in Perth (Australia).

    Thanks

    Hi guys,

That is exactly what is happening to my CTC as well, it only started a few weeks ago, im in Melb. Could it have anything to do with Daylight Savings????

I did a disaster recovery, updated the firmware. My CTC is the CTC2 as well..

I'm wondering if you ever sorted your issue? I have a CTC2 which has hung with a blinking cursor and nothing else. I've tried rebooting it a couple of times to no avail. C-Gate can't see it. It doesn't get to the main screen, shows the initial splash screen briefly with no icons, and then the screen clears and a blinking cursor appears.

I would hazard to say that it is the RAM, we have had quite a number of units where the RAM fails. If it is out of warranty and you are comfortable with pulling things apart it is very easy to replace yourself and the RAM is very available online. It could be the CF card, but they fact that it sounds like it is half booting makes me think it is RAM.

Did this get resolved, as I am experience exactly the same issue, with an unresponsive CTC2 touch screen, as per origin thread above. Reboot fixes for short period then it becomes unresponsive after a while.

As per the original thread need to reboot a few times a day, i.e., a hard reboot by taking off glass screen casing, and pushing the reset button next to the LEDs.

I have also updated to latest firmware 4.13.1.45. via PICED.

    Help would be much appreciate.

    Hi Guys,
The above issue could also be caused by a faulty transmit cicuit in the 5080CTC Color Touch Screen.
This is a common fault caused by the age of the unit. These units can still be repaired by Arbor Australia. We were the original manufacturer of the units for Clipsal. i have attached our RMA form that is used to provide use with all the information we need to proccess your repair. I have also provided my contact details if you need to contact me directly.

    Symptoms of the transmit error....
The Color Touch Screen can see all activity on the C-bus network but will not transmit commands to any devices when a control on the Color touch screen is pressed. This may happen all of a sudden or progressivly get worse with time. This fault causes the C-bus voltage to drop to a low level, if you disconnect the color touch from the C-bus network and the voltage is ok, this indicates it is most likely this fault causing the problem.

Note:- All 5080CTC Color Touch Screens CTC1, CTC2 and CTC3, can still be Serviced/Repaired by us. Any Spectrum B/W units can still be repaired by Schneider-Electric directly.

Note:- The the RAM for the CTC1 and CTC3 is located between the two main PCB's and is not that easy to get to, as a complete disassembly is required to do so. The RAM on the CTC3 can be repalced after removing the unit from the black plastic.

FYI, I ended up replacing my faulty CTC with Homegate running on an ultra compact PC and a wall mounted iPad Mini running remote desktop. Works a treat. Was a much cheaper and more usable option than a new CTC.
