I have seen a sample of the new 8-key IR remote (5088TX) few months ago and I am wondering when it is going to be launched. Ocassionally clients needs remote for the NEO and the old one looks too old. card size 5038TX looks better but has limited power so it is rather useless to use a remote in close range. So, I guess 5088TX should be good replacement. However, I just wonder if the key layout can be the same as 5038TX, which matches the NEO layout.

(The universal remote is way too big even comparing with other univeral remotes)

I have seen boxes of these guys lying around and have a sneaky suspicion that they have been released and available for order.

Yep.. just checked and the 5084TX and 5088TX are now available for order.

The 5088TX has the same key layout as the Neo, and can be user configured to do Bank A/B or C/D. The 5084TX can be configured to do Bank A or Bank B.

Yippppieeeee Bank D is released !!!

(reason why I am happy......(Second last post!)..)
    http://www.cbusforums.com/forums/showthread.php?t=563&highlight=refusal

If some one is able to get a "Pronto" file for bank "D" and post it to the forum I would be very happy.

I can finally fix my IR multi sensor issue.

I have noticed that Tool KIT has dropped support for banks EF and GH on the multi sensor. Was this done because no remotes support the codes or another reason.

Can we see some photos of the new remotes.

What are banks and how are they used and why are they important?

    Thanks

The Banks are part of the design of the "normal" Cbus IR targets.

This is related to the fact that the IR remote isn't "programmed" to a particular switch or IR target - it's a universal unit that any IR target will respond to, so you can carry one remote for the whole house.

The Banks are to split one remote into separate sets of instructions. IR targets set to respond to Bank A will only respond to a 4-key remote set to the same bank. On multi-key remotes, the keys are arranged in columns and these correspond to Banks A, B, C etc.

For example, a Neo switch has integral IR. It has 2 columns of 4 buttons, and the remote has a corresponding columns of 4 buttons. The Neo can be set to respond to Banks A&B or Banks C&D. This allows you to have 2 Neos in the same room, yet separate the functions.

That is the best I can do - somebody better please help explain this in a clearer way :D

Sorry to hi-jack the thread, but can someone tell me if the 5084TX will work with the original C-Bus IR plate?
It would be nice to update (get rid of!) the old style four button remote.
    Regards,
    Michael.

Yes, a 5084TX will work with an original C-Bus IR plate.

Yes. The new remotes use the same codes as the old 5034TX, 5034TX12, and 5038TX.

The only difference is that the new 5088TX can generate the bank D codes which were always supported by the Neo, but for which there was previously no remote!
