I have a colour touchscreen which I need to update, but unfortunately the laptop which was originally used now has a faulty ethernet adaptor, and so can't be used to modify the original system which is currently set up on the Touchscreen.

If I download the same version of Piced (3.8)which was used to create the original touchscreen, and set it up on a new laptop, then transfer the Piced data from the old laptop to the new one, will I then be able to make the necessary changes to the touchscreen, and update it? Will I need to install anything else on the new laptop? I take it that it doesn't need the C-bus Toolkit software, is that the case? I can still make Toolkit updates using the old laptop, which has Toolkit 1.5.3 installed, using the USB adaptor in to a PAC, so this isn't a problem, unless the Piced software needs to call upon an installed version of the Toolkit on the same machine. Can the Touchscreen be programmed without having the Toolkit and the associated project file on the same laptop?

Download the old TK and PICED. Copy the data. You should be right.

    Hi Neil C,

You will only need Toolkit and PICED in order to do your transfer.

It's also worth noting that you can download the latest version of PICED and transfer your files that you first created with PICED 3.8.

    Regards,

So I definitely need to load the old version of Toolkit on the new laptop, along with the project file, plus the old version (or the latest) of Piced, plus the touchscreen project file, in order to do the changes? Is this the case? I was hoping that I wouldn't need the toolkit and its project file, as I seem to be getting lots of message about things needing to be upgraded, even though I've only loaded the old files which were on the original laptop.

You have 2 choice - load and use the old s/w (copy the project files over).

Or load and use the latest and greatest (copy the project files over).

Using the latest brings some benefits, and it will auto-upgrade the project to suit the later versions.

If the old versions do all you want and you dont want to have to learn anything different, then use those. Either way you will get something workable. It's up to you.
