Hi. I have an old ( 2002-3) cbus system in a house I bought recently. The system is leading edge- so I have had issues with updating lights to LED. Most replacement lights now are LED. Very painful with my electricians not super familiar with these issues- so took a lot of time and money and patience just to replace a couple of wall lights.
I am renovating and replacing/ adding lights- so back to the issue of finding LEDs compatible and needing to add in controller units.
Is it possible to “ upgrade” my system to either universal or trailing edge- so I can update lights with LED at ease without these issues?
    Any advise much appreciated.
    Tx

Changing the dimmers to universal ones is quite straightforward for anyone familiar with Cbus. The main issue is if you have any 8 channel dimmers as the universal dimmer are only 4 channel so you need extra space in the board.

There are quality led lights that work fine with the Cbus leading edge dimmers, although you will never get perfect dimming down to zero that you will with incandescent lights (this is also true for universal dimmer though). If the problem is the leds flashing when off, this can often be cured with load correction devices like the 31CAP, or 31LCDA which could be a lot cheaper than replacing the dimmers.

Note that your typical cheap (Chinese, Bunnings) leds are unlikely to give acceptable result with any type of dimmer.
