    Hey guys,

A quick question you may be able to help me with. I will be controlling 7 seperate LV lighting circuuits using the L5508D1A C-Bus Module. However I would also like to use this module to control a ropelight which is approximately 40 Watts but is not dimmable. Would I be able to set a channel on the dimming module to act similar to a switch (i.e. go on immediately, switch off immediately)

    Many thanks

Just set your key input as on/off and check that the dimmer min/max are set to 0%/100% and all should be fine.

One thing to watch out for is the leakage current past the dimmer channel that is present, even when the channel has been turned off. You can read more about it here.

Most of the time this does not cause a problem however you'll need to check the compatibility of the dimmer channel with your rope light yourself. If you get any kind of flickering in the rope light when the dimmer channel is turned off then this will most likely be the reason.

Custom, thanks for the help and confirmation. Just as I was hoping. Main reason being that I wanted the ropelight to be controlled via C-Bus and if this wasnt possible, not only would I have to get a relay module but also would have to find somewhere to DIN house it which doest lend itself to a proud installer. (Housing full up)

Thank you as well newman, it certainly is a factor. I'm hoping that as the ropelight is so low wattage, hence high resistance it may not lend it self to blinking with a leakage current, I hope :)!!

    Much appreciated guys,

You could always use a 1 or 2 channel C-Bus relay as these units are NOT din rail mounted.
