    Hi All,

I am looking at installing my own CCTV system, what brands do people recommend/ have that work well?? I was just thinking of a Swann system, Btw I would rather have wired cameras instead of wireless. 1080p or 4K is a must. The Swann 16 Channel 4K system looks the goods but is pricey.

    Regards Matt

No actual experience but the guys on the Blue Iris forums recommend Hikvision or Dahua.

I have just installed BI last weekend so I am going down the same path of identifying cameras etc.

Just bought a Hikvision NVR w POE and some 4MPs off Aliexpress. Whirlpool has a list of credible sellers, I used Xinray and one other I can't recall. Just make sure to get the products clearly advertised as "English language" and "upgradeable firmware", not the "Multi-language" ones.

All delivered quickly, hdd easy to install, cameras plugged in, auto-detected and working fine so far, though admittedly its on a test bench and I haven't explored the advanced features yet.
