    Hi,
    Im NEW!!!!!

I'm aware that different situations require different solutions but...

I want to use C-Bus to control my house (which is about to be wired)

I'm aware of how to wire different zones etc...

But does anyone know if there is an idiots guide to what should go where and make it easy for me to keep it modular in my Node zero?

With all the modules etc available and RCD's etc... I would love to see a diagram to help me out!

    AL.

    Hi Al,

I?m sorry, but it?s impossible to provide a generic diagram or solution, in fact it?s not really particle to provide any sort diagram/shopping list without knowing your exact requirements.

The output devices, modules as you called them, are specific to the loads they control both in terms of output current and control type. For example to dim Halogen lamps will require a different output device to that needed to dim CFL?s (Megaman) lamps, you may have colour changing LED wall washers that may require DMX control??. ? CH & DHW that require change over relays or even some type of propotional control?
Input devices (switches, PIR?s, etc) vary both functionally and aesthetically, again they need to be chosen to match your requirements.

I?d contact your local C-Bus rep (Schneider Electric) in the UK, they?ll put you in touch with the distributors who?ll, I?m sure, provide you a product list and pricing.

If you are unfamiliar with C-Bus, I would recommend that you either enrol on a C-Bus training course, or employ a qualified C-Bus engineer.

The latter may sound expensive but training is not free by any means and will only give you a grounding. The training is around the ?Toolkit Software? which is the primary programming/commissioning tool. However, if you have a Touch Screen on the system you?ll need to get your head around the PICED software and if bespoke controls are required, you?ll may need a logic engine that is running bespoke code written in the PASCAL language.

I?m not trying to frighten you, believe me, but in my experience at least 30% of my C-Bus work is putting right systems that have been badly installed, poorly designed and clumsily programmed. The net result is an unreliable system, which is the last thing you want when you?ve spent so much money, which would be shame when C-Bus is the exact opposite.

Hope this is of help to you, if I can be of any assistance to you? Please private message me and give you my contact details.

    Paul
