I am unable to change the default IP of the Wiser CNI, and I've run out of ideas and need some help from the forum brains trust.

I have configured Wiser with static IP 10.1.1.90 subnet mask 255.255.255.0 (Wiser DHCP server disabled) and I can ping it at that IP on the network. I ping 10.1.1.91 expecting to find the CNI there but it isn't there. Using the CBUS IP Utility I scan the network and I find the CNI at 192.168.2.2 (which is its default IP). Using the CBUS IP Utility I assign the CNI the desired IP 10.1.1.91, subnet mask 255.0.0.0, gateway 10.1.1.1 "save" and I get the error message "device did not respond whilst saving" Rescanning the network confirms the CNI is remaining at its default IP. I have also tried saving using subnet mask of 255.255.255.0 and same result.

Wiser firmware is Kona_1.18.0. I'm trying to update the firmware on the Wiser before launching int my first Wiser project but can't do that until the CNI can communicate with the network.

UPDATE: I was able to update the Wiser firmware to 1.25.0 but am still unable to communicate with the CNI. Also, with this firmware the CBUS IP Utility can not find the Wiser CNI on the network.

The correct way to change the CNI's IP is using the C-Bus IP Utility. You'll definitely need to be able to change its IP in order for the Wiser to communicate with it. If changing its IP is not working with the current networ k setup, I'd recommend just connecting it directly to your PC/laptop (with IP set statically) and then changing its IP that way.

Not sure if this applies to you but I had exactly the same problem trying to readdress a Wiser CNI when it was connected to a network with borderline C-Bus Power available.

We'd added the Wiser and a few shutter relays and overlooked the need for additional C-Bus power supplies. We must've only been just borderline though because the reset of the system still worked, I just couldn't reliably communicate with the Wiser's CNI.

I eventually cottoned on to the power supply problem (after directly connecting the Wiser to my laptop and successfully readdress the CNI) and everything was sweet.

I'd already tried connecting the wiser directly to the PC to configure the CNI, and connecting the wiser to the network and configuring via the IP utility. Neither method works. Any changes being made to the CNI configuration just aren't being saved in the device.

And regarding power, I have oodles of power to spare on my CBUS network....

....I worked it out, finally! The config changes in the Wiser CNI are only being saved in the device if I assign it a password. With password assigned changes are saved, without password assigned changes don't seem to be saved.

BTW: CIS Tech phone support is great!

They should really be your first point of contact with problems.

Yes, but I try to sort problems out for myself first, failing that I'll give Tech Support a call...

Wiser CNI IP Address change not sticking

Hey I am having the same issue as brodricj. Ironically I am using a similar IP range of the existing home network. When updating the IP address of the CNI, it will not stick to the new address of 10.0.1.120, even with using a password. IP address of Wiser Router was changed to 10.0.1.110, 255.255.255.0, Gateway 10.0.1.251. I disconnected the CNI from the busbar connecting to the Wiser router and went direct into LAN to it instead, IP utility was able to update the address this time successfully and I thought bewdy!. But then as soon as I pulled power, reconnected busbar and Wiser router to CNI, IP Utility reports CNI as offline with that address. What gives??? Also when changing the IP on the CNI, is the Gateway to be the Wiser router or the actual DHCP router for the network? It should not matter if Wiser router points at DHCP router, but I thought I would check given what I am dealing with now that should be a simple IP address change that requires all sorts of things to happen to work.
To C-Bus, I am an IT man having to sort this issue out and I can say you need to contact a few Indian's like we do for iPhone apps and webpages and get some of the programming sorted out. There are IP based home control products coming from everywhere right now that end consumers can edit and control themselves and these sort of interface issues in C-Bus are going to impact C-Bus adoption a lot. I know you guys have tried hard here, but the unfortunate reality is it has to get a lot better yet. When an IP address change does not stick or cannot be changed at same time as the Wiser IP address via the web interface, thats not helpful. Looking forward to your resolution.

Okay have sorted this myself. Reset Router and switched back CNI IP to default shipping settings. GUI on Wiser after another reboot post this was accessible again. Got in, turned off wireless, saved, changed IP to desired IP, turned off DHCP, saved, rebooted, disconnected Wiser router, busbar and CNI from each other, connected CNI direct to local network and used IP Utility and changed CNI successfully to desired IP. Disconnected, reassembled Wiser router, busbar and CNI and rebooted. Started C-Bus toolkit, could access projects on C-Bus network via new IP addresses, but cannot access GUI of Wiser router. Go figure? Lucky I do not really need to access it at the moment. This product really needs some work done on it before long. The competition coming will eat it with much simpler product to install.
