I am considering purchasing a wiser unit from a supplier and installing it myself. Here is what they have told me I need to do to install it

"1. Program the Wiser to using the latest PICED and toolkit software, using your current C-Bus project file.
    2. Make up a C-Bus cable with 8 pin LAN plug and hard-wire this into the Wiser CNI screw terminals inside this.
    3. Make LAN setting changes to the Wiser and the other equipment on your LAN."

I am not an installer but a homeowner. I can download PICED and toolkit. But, how do I get my current C-BUS project file? can I extrct it from my current C-BUS hardward somehow?

Can I buy the abovementioned 8 pin LAN cable?

I assume the Wiser has software on board so that I can IP into from my laptop and change settings?

    tks for any help

Ideally your installer should have left a copy of the project file for you.

You can extract many details of the project by scanning the network with ToolKit. The thing you are really going to need is the "tags". These are not stored in the C-Bus devices, with the exception of Colour C-Touch. If you don't have a Colour C-Touch, you will need to manually name (tag) the group addresses, probably by toggling the groups to see what they do, then giving them a name.

If you have an RJ-45 socket for C-Bus nearby, you can use any Ethernet cable, or a C-Bus patch cable. Using the C-Bus (pink) cable is best to avoid risk of confusion.

Otherwise, just get a C-Bus cable, cut off one end and connect the wires to the nearest C-Bus junction. The wiring colour coding is in all of the product manuals.

Some settings can be done from a Web Browser.
