    Hi All,

We have a wiser with a number of scene's "custom 1-6" which are current all set to a 0% value but will be used by the end user to set levels for different events/shows using the wiser/edit/scene followed by live change and save.

    http://www.cbusforums.com/forums/attachment.php?attachmentid=1559&stc=1&d=1305281216

all works as expected switching between the newly created scene until the wiser is turned off or re booted at which point the custom scene defaults to 0%.
whilst trying different scenarios the wiser has save one of the attempts but not sure why.
We have tried this on a different system with wiser and the same thing is happening.

    Any ideas?

    Thanks in advance

Quick question, which version of the Wiser firmware and PICED is in use for this setup? Wiser should be 1.22.0 and PICED should be 4.9.2

    Hi,
    The Piced is 4.9.2.0
and the firmware was upgraded from the latest Piced so i guess it's the latest version (sorry I'm not on site so can't check the actual device). but i'm pretty sure it's 1.21

Sounds like your firmware is up to date. How soon after the user did the scene edit was the Wiser turned off or rebooted? Wiser doesn't save instantaneously after an edit. To maximize the lifespan of its solid state storage, it only saves after 5 minutes. I'm wondering if what happened above was that the user did the scene edit, then rebooted before the save in which case the scene would revert to what it was to begin with.

For the most part the re boot has been less that 5mins after the change. I did try it myself and waited 15mins between re boot and still had the same problem, I'll double check in the morning and re post. The user has also had to re boot the wiser twice over the weekend as the scenes stored on it become unresponsive (Not Great).
Has anyone else been able to use the scene save successfully?

Works fine for me on 1.22.0 / PICED 4.9.2 . Edited a scene with 2 group addresses, burnt 6 minutes with Louis CK on youtube, rebooted, checked that new values were there. Does the scene save fail for you on all of your scenes or just specific ones? You may want to post your .cta project file and I can give it a try if I have some time. One other quick check, immediately after editing your scene, if you reload the web browser, does the scene editor show your edited values?

    Hi,

Firsty Thanks for taking the time to help

Wiser is 1.21 I can't find a 1.22 version I thought the latest firware came with Piced 4.9.2?.
I've tried the same thing on another wiser and a similar thing happern.
I changed a scene on friday and left the wiser on over the weekend then open up the browers and check the levels are as they were left then try the scene and it reverts back to the original loaded on to Piced ever though the customised levels still show correctly in the browser.
Tried making new scenes and changing them (same thing).
Tried waiting upto 1 hour for changes to apply (same Thing).
Setting levels in the browers then close and reopen the browers still shows the new custom levels as they were before closing but once again when you select the scene it's back to default.
My feeling is that some how the save facility is disabled or not working correctly, or more likely something stupid I've done.

    Hi All,

Replaced the Wiser in on the first installation that was causing problems and it worked straight away. Exact same settings as the first so I guess the Wiser was a dud.

As mentioned before you do have to wait about 10mins for the scene change to take effect. The second installation still will not save a scene but it's not an actual requirement in this installation so I'll leave it for the time been.

    Thanks all for your input

    Chris

Hi Chris, I'm glad you've found a solution. That said, I'm not sure the first Wiser was a dud. What you described sounds more like a bug in that version of Wiser firmware. I checked and firmware 1.21.0 is known to have a problem that occurs for combinations of scenes of particular sizes, the description of the bug is that it crashes on bootup or when certain scenes are executed. The firmware that fixes that, 1.22.0 only went to customer support. A new PICED release incorporating those fixes for the Wiser firmware should be available soon. I guess this doesn't explain why your other Wiser fixes the issue, unless of course the other Wiser has a different firmware version.

If that specific Wiser is the only one exhibiting this inability to save scenes, then please let customer support know. It will be useful for engineering to investigate the issue in detail to identify if there's any solid state storage issue.
