I've moved companies and i'm re-assessing network device options. For those who are happy to share, what WAPs do you use with your Wiser setup? Have they worked well with Apple devices for the Wiser app, as well as sharing internet?
(ones that have conflicted or did not work well could be noted also)

    Thanks!

I used the Wiser itself as the WAP + edge router, but it never played nicely with the wireless on my macbook (the iPhones never had a problem).. the macbook would never reconnect to the network after waking up from sleep, but toggling the wireless on it off and on again it would connect fine.

In the end I got fed up with this and got myself an Apple Airport Extreme and changed the Wiser to LAN mode, and everything has been fine with that setup.

    Interesting point you raise...

I have 3 Wireless Access Points(WAP's). One is a Wiser, the second is a Billion ADSL modem/router/access point and the third is a D-Link WAP. They all have the same SSID and WPA setup but all operate on a different wireless channel (I found that I needed about 3 channel separation to work well). I have no problems with the 12 wireless products we use which include laptops, iPods, iPhone, Galaxy phone, Blackberry and Kobo eBook reader. The benefit of this setup is I have located one unit at the front of the house, one in the middle and one at back in the shed so no matter where we are, an access point is close and you actually don't know (or care) which one you are connected to.

Unlike Nick, we don't use a macbook.

The Wiser unit seem to work fine for this in fact, it's the one that lives in the shed so it also has to deal with heat and cold too

    Great, thanks.

Did you try many settings Nick? Like different encryptions etc? Others with Mac books experience this too?

Has anyone tried the Linksys RE-1000 Extender ($75) or Apple AirPort Express ($119) with a Wiser? Not the cheapest WAPs but I would expect them to be reliable and quite compatible.

I have just bought a wiser and I've just started on the learning curve for a DIY installation. I do not plan on using the wiser WAP as I already have an enterprise grade WAP on my home network and I want all wireless clients in the home to connect via this WAP (for simplicity, and reliability). My access point is a Pakedge WAP-W3, it's rock solid and has been the only WAP that works in my home without issue.

I am using the Ubiquiti UniFi WAPs and they work very well. They are a light-weight manageable AP that support multiple SSIDs, guest access, rate limiting and VLANs.

The ony tricky bit I found was getting the Wiser configured to use my existing network addressing. Once I found the thread here with the steps it was all good.
